NC Super 20 > NA Super 16
I have been impressed the Miata "Super 20" concept. I was wondering how it might look on an NA, particularly an NA6. So, a supercharged 1.6 -> "Super 16" .
Just looking at NA over flares with similar proportions, I did a quick and dirty photoshop.

Using GIS, I found a decent picture from the rear 3/4. I need to look for others, particularly the front and front 3/4. Anyways...

I was thinking the RPF1/WideOpen would fit the look a little bit better? But I like the Matte Black flares and the stripes along the bottom.

It's tough, flares that size opes up 15x8 and 15x9 in a +0 offset fairly easily. The interesting part is being able to update/backdate the look as retro-mod appearance in style.

I might. I need to work on the graphics. Maybe an orange tracer for contast, need to work on the front/hood layout. S/C could be a number of layouts, but a Rotrex at around 8-12 PSI *could be *really* special. Convert to a manual rack, add an oil cooler, maybe work out quic-chage noses for different aero packages, a spare trunk for more agressive rear aero. I could easily take cues from the Super 20 interior, too:

2,000 rpm - light wheelspin, no bog here!
Maybe Rev9 "OE Flares" with 15x8 +20 Wideopens
Or the larger flares with 15x8/9 +0/10 Rota RKR?

I think style wise these are closest to the super20 flares. The flares only though, the front is just weird.

Thanks, fellas! I looked at flares today until I went crosseyed. .
I agree with V, the ones above are closest and go the full distance on the perimeter.
I also looked at non-Miata flares, too. My gripe is most of the flares I see are too bulbous, not 'flat' enough. There is a radius curve along the sweep of the flare. The ones that DO go the full sweep of the arch are a little aggressive, like the N2 and Autokonxion flares. I am still a little nervous of cutting up the fenders.
I did find an interesting thread on one of the UK forums. One person used a Rev9 OE style and a porta power to pull the fenders to clear a 15x8+0. That is certainly an option, some slightly custom metal work.
That also got me thinking, looking at the Rev 9 OEs, stock versions of the mud flaps can tie the rearward parts of the OE flares, leaving the forward parts exposed. This is good and bad. Though not as aggressive, it looks a little proportionate with the NAs smaller, finer styling over the NCs bulging accents. It also allows me to maintain interchangeable fronts for splitters without messing with a flare attached to it. I thought about *maybe* extending the front of the flares downward, BUT the OEs end at the knee line that runs the length of the car all the way around. Now, stay with me here, I could use that body line as the first horizontal black stripe (see the photoshop in my initial post). This raised black line, and re proportioned lower graphics would help me to tie in the smaller OE flares (painted black). I need to do the work up on the graphics, but it could work very well without doing irreversible fender work.
Wheels could be x8 up to *maybe* + 10, x7 up to +0 OR x9 up to +25 (hello 6ULs or Jongbloed!).

Here's OE style flares with a fender pull over 15x8 +0 wheels (195/45-15 tires :/ )

I like the idea. I read this thread with much interest and had several pages open for reference. The OE flares seem to be the most, shall we say "friendly", to the NA. They fit the body lines and give you the most options. I'd just want to see the raised to the body line graphics before committing. It sounds perfect but visually may be a bit high. Rather than the lower quarter of the car it raises the graphics up to about half of the car height. You are definitely on to something cool here.

I agree. I did a quick 'lift' on the graphics to the body line and it looked a little odd, but I didn't mess around much with the proportions. I will have to do a few more studies with better quality pictures.

The front flares on the Fujimura taper to its dedicated bumper.
why not some tuckin99 flares?

I see a few reasons for this. Some wrap over and connect to the bumpers, some stop short. Still a few partially wrap over, but don't connect. It is either artistic license, manufacturing/mold concerns, or something else. For me, a 'medium' flare that integrated into the front fender's scallop at the rear, but stopped at the front bumper....maybe integrating into the r-pack lip? The rear 'medium' flare could be a better service to integrate at the front of the wheel arch and rocker panel, then end at the rear bumper. It would allow servicing the front and rear areas of the car (bumper removal) without having to mess with the flares. Less of a radius would be nice on the profile curve. Some I see suit the bulbous-ness of the NB than the NA, IMO.
Even further, It would be neat to see a set of medium flares that focused on a cohesive 3-4 piece design that ties in the F & R arches on the rocker panel, while adding continuity the stock F&R R-pack lip spoilers create. The read could be done easily by also integrating a long set of rear mud flaps.
