    GearheadsMiataClub.net Tech Day in SWFL

A few gearheads from GearheadsMiataClub.net converged in Port Charlotte Florida to help out a new guy with his 60K-service. Not the most exciting thing to report but just having Miata enthusiasts drive for two hours on a freezing morning just to get here early and work on a Miata all day makes for a great club and great camaraderie. This is why Miata clubs stand the test of time whereas other fly-by-night car clubs suck.

The morning started out pretty crisp but that didn't stop anyone from showing up including a surprise guest who showed up in a nice yellow NA at a tech day for his very first meeting.

    We did some meet-n-greet

and started the day with some world-famous, AgentOrange scrambled-egg breakfast...hell yeah!

but very quickly, it was time to get to work

Then about mid day was time for a Gearhead lunch...pizzas and apple ales!

In the middle of it all, we managed to do a timing job for the new guy

Some random shots because the colors were cool

After lunch it was back to work and because the days are shorter and MM isn't allowed out after dark, it was crunch time

MM made anyone who was just sitting around grab a wrench and work...no exceptions!

Soon enough, the beautiful afternoon began to fade and the temperature started to drop

and little by little, the herd started to thin until there were few

Finally, the job was done and the car ran like a champ. Jeff stuck around a couple more hours for some odds and ends and we ended up fabricating a brace for his intake out of aluminum bar stock (yeah, yeah, not exciting but I had one last photo anyway)

    That's all I have.

He's a new guy. Actually, there were only four regular GMC members there as it was just a small event anyway. The rest were new including the guy with the yellow NA who just showed up for the first time to one of our gatherings. That is one pristine NA from the inside out. Every detail attended to. Really blew us away as we didn't even know it existed until a couple minutes before the first photos were taken.
