LE vs R2-Limited who deserves the red interior most?

Well boys here I am on a crossroad deciding what to do with my retirement toy. Mind you I am at least 10 years away from it but I thought I may as well get a head start as when arthritis takes its toll I won't be able to get her done my way.

So the miata in question is a white 95 which will be getting a donor LE interior upgrade. I have always loved a white convertible with red interior. I am about to have her repainted. But now my friends are saying that a black sports car deserves the red interior more than a white one.

Base on my initial research there were 1500 LE produced while there where only 500 R2-Limited released? So looking at this is it right or safe to say that red interior thus looks good with black cars?

Also my son wants black but I really think white looks very vintage the JDM way in my taste. But I can also understand the macho effect of an LE. Unfortunately I can't have both.

What you think black or white?

Do what you want. Sounds like you prefer red on white, and everyone else wants to build your car to their tastes with your money.

The R2 Limited was produced only for the Japanese market. The 1,500 for the 93LE is the USA figure. There were another 300 similarly equipped models sold in Canada. There were also Japanese market and UK (I think) R Limited and S Limited Roadsters produced that have the dark exterior with the red interior. They are all pretty rare but the white exterior with a red interior is the most rare.

You'll find fans and detractors of both. Go with what your heart and gut tell you.

    edit: Well said, JamieH.

Separate 5k and build the best red interior you can build for your white Miata. Phatmiata did it on his car and the car became an icon, you can find some pictures of his car online. I am sure you have seen them before. Your car will look very nice.

Build what YOU want or else you will never be happy.

The red interior was also used on that dark blue color which looks great too. And nobody has that stateside. I mean if you are gonna repaint the full car? MadAboutMx5s had one recently in his fleet. Also silver or Laguna blue with red interiors look good if you want more options.

Thanks boys. I know I can't mess this one up. I will stay with white as Phat already laid the grounds it'll just be easier to set my directions. Plus I will save a bit of money from not repainting the entire car.

Full red interior in a white model also came in the R limited. 894 were in mica satellite blue, 106 in chaste white. R2 limited figures on top of this.

I would love to do a red interior on my chaste white NA. It is getting tougher to get the red LE parts these days, so it looks like i'm probably gona just stick with black interior.
