As most of you guys know I sold my AE86 hatch a few years back to focus on the business. I recently was reunited with my coupe I sold back in 2003. Here's how I found her. A good friend of mine came to the shop and was telling me about this coupe in Long Beach he was picking up. After showing me pictures I found out it was my old coupe I've been searching for forever. Even my AE86 friends in San Diego and LA were trying to look around for it. It was the car I wish I didn't sell. After negotiations he ended up selling me the car. I went to pick the car up and found out the title was never put in the guys name! All I had to do is pay back reg. Cost me about $600 since he never put it in his name and non-op'd it.
Fast forward...
So it's been a couple weeks of having the car in my hands and I've been cleaning up the car slowly. The car has been sitting for about 9 years in a driveway so the interior has a cracked dash, rear seats are ripped up and paint is faded.
First thing I did was changed all the belts, fluids. brakes rotors and pads. After doing all of that and vacuuming the car I took her for a spin. Man! it was like I never parted with her.My wife and I have been driving her around quite a bit. Back in the day in San Diego my wife drove the coupe more that I because she worked for the San Diego Chargers and parked the car at the stadium. Only way to get in and out was security. It was the safest place at the time. She was really happy that I got the car back. I've been working on her a little more this week. Installed a new Kenwood stereo and Infiniti speakers, Buddy Club seat rails and my Alcantara bucket seat (intended for the NC). Here are some before and new photos of her.
