He and I are working on a similar concept for coolant reroutes but with -16an fittings
    see below.

The compression fittings are interesting for a reroute.

A (maybe interesting) find, during an FSAE-related market search: Viper Performance in UK can custom make pretty much everything in terms of silicone hoses. I assume that a Miata-specific molded reroute silicone hose would be sweet, and price could be fair especially in a case of a group buy.

    New reroute adapter...

Depends on the motor. I used a Chevy truck application on mine and trimmed to length. The hose was ~$20-25. It runs from the back of the head to the radiator, but I am experimenting with supporting/suspending it from the intake manifold.

Woudn't a spacer less reroute mean that the heater only gets flow when the thermostat opens?

If the thermostat is in the back of the head and the stock heater plumbing is maintained then yes, hot water would only circulate through the heater once the thermostat opens. I have no idea whether they have maintained the stock heater plumbing or whether they have done some sort of bypass arrangement. Remember, Hyper and Speedworks both live in Florida so I'm not sure heater efficiency is near the top of their priority list.

There is a cold coolant source in the engine block, we reroute the coolant back to the mixing manifold this way. The thermostat does not need a spacer if you drill holes to it.
