Wire them to your car to switch on/off with the ignition. I dont like the GPS/speed overlays, it *could* be used against you. WiFi-enables units will allow you to pull down videos on your phone. Hi-def, shock sensor-on, etc. are useful features too.

I use a Roav unit that is mounted to my windshield behind my rear view mirror. The camera came with the tape and mount. I wired in a USB port under the dash, hid the wire in the header and A pillar. I have been really happy with it and also use it to record my track sessions.
I bought it all off Amazon.
This thread is on this forum, too:

I have a GoLuk wifi enabled one, its very neat and is hard wired into the ignition. But if you have a permeant live to it you can set up 'knock sensors' and 'motion sensors' so if someone walks past or hits your car when parked somewhere it will record.
I went for this one because its small and doesn't look too out of place in my Eunos.
Its a KG Works mirror, the dash cam fixes nicely to the back of it and you can't see it whilst driving
I use a Thinkware 750 front/rear cam system on one car and a front-facing Mini 0806 on the other. I’m sure they’ve been supplanted by more recent technology but I just want to get into my car and go without messing with cameras. I do not use the GPS nor microphone features of either because in case of a collision, I do not want to provide any incriminating evidence, only exculpatory.
