What is the name of your Miata?

Not sure if this has been done before but just wondered what some of you guys have come up with for a name for your Miata or other sportscar/ roadster and maybe why it has this name? Of course mine is The Rooster, Steve named him due to: "This character loves to strut his stuff for anyone who will watch. He is exuberant and flamboyant, full of energy and life", and it fit the car, so I kept his name due to the history that came with it, so what is your car's name?

Cars I worked on, owned, or have a major hand in creating.
Crusher: named after setting up our press and noting that it looked like it would crush stuff. NB1, built to run 2011 and 2012 T25. Won E1 class in 2012.
Super: the original Supermiata. NB1 Sold and still running in the SPM series
JR: Son of Crusher. Current NA Supermiata at 949 Racing
OGK: Orange Giant Killer, designed to be faster than way more expensive cars. NB1 Current shop project car. Time attacks and W2W racing while being somewhat streetable.
Mental: I think long and hard about every thing that I do to this car before execution. My personal project car. NA with NB2 driveline and wiring and paint and...
Paper: Sonny won the right to buy it with paper in a game of rock/paper/scissors. NA6 My daily driver.
Bubbles: named after the powerpuff girl due to the light blue color. NB2 street car turned into a race car. Sold and is being built in another shop.
Buttercup: it follows Bubbles as the NB2 shop car. You can guess the color.

    Sharka.

I'm not sure if I've ever posted this anywhere. It's actually true and how Sharka got his name.

In May of 2000, I got married in Hawaii on a beach at sunset. We combined the honeymoon and wedding and got a 3 week vacation. It was fantastic. We drove around, snorkled, and had a great vacation. My wife bought a shirt from Crazy Shirts with this little cartoon shark on it. I think she got a stuffed one too. (I've since bought several dozen stuffed Sharkas.) I thought it was cute but didn't think much more.

I didn't have a Miata back then. I'd test driven a few cars in the months prior to getting married, but was more interested in a Celica all-trac than a Miata. I drove a few Miatas, including the car I would eventually buy, but was really more interested in something else. An MR2 turbo perhaps.

A short time after coming back from the vacation, I had a dream. An epic dream. I dreamed I owned a dark blue Miata with a rollbar. I thought the rollbar looked kind of like a shark fin and the whole thing looked rather shark-like with the dark paint. In the dream, I called the car "Sharka" after the little toon shark from Hawaii.

I woke up. I told my wife about the dream. And then, later that morning, the phone rang. It was a dealer calling about a Miata I'd driven 3 months earlier. They wanted to move it off the lot for the end of the month and would give me "a good deal." It was a 97 montego blue PEP with black interior. It was Sharka.

    I bought it.

I'll own a Sharka until I'm no longer in this world. I could no easier give him up than stop breathing.

It's hard to follow that story, but here goes.

Ive owned my '92 since 2001. She was my first car and first car I learned to drive. Never thought to give her a name though. Then one day (a couple years later) I was bored at work and decided I should try and name her. I decided on a "her" because being inside a dude isn't really my style. She has such style and grace, which made it hard to give her a male persona. At the time I thought a Japanese name seemed most appropriate since many of them have cool meanings.

So I scoured the Internet for traditional Japanese girls names. Then, out of the blue, one jumped off the page. Kimi. I thought, "hmmm... I rather like the sound of that." I clicked on the name link and it took me to the page with the name's history, meaning, etc. I saw that it meant "She who is without equal." It was at that moment I knew I had found the right name.

We've been together almost 14 years now. Longer than all my person-to-person relationships combined. Shes been with me through thick and thin. I can't picture my life without her in it. We'll be together for a VERY long time.

My dad bought his first Miata a 90' in 94 with less than 6500 miles. It had lived a very pampered life so it quickly became "Baby" and he got his first personalized plate RAINSUX.

In 99' I found my LE. My dad and were/are always messing with our cars, maintence, track days, modifying, etc. His moms name was Madeliane and she passed away when I was 8. I knew that she was upstairs laughing at us playing together all the time so my LE found her name to Maddie.

Dad has had many other miatas and gve most of them names. He also helped Bill Cardell come up with the name Whoosh for his first miata.

My '90 is named Soledad, my '99 10AE is named Marisol, and my wife's '11 Mazda 3 is named Zippy. I did not bestow that name upon it.

Soledad got her name the very day I found her sitting in an unlit corner of a small used car lot five years ago. I had been referring to her by that name for weeks until one day my wife (whom was not my wife at the time) graciously informed me that the word 'soledad' translates to 'loneliness' or 'solitude' in Spanish. She was born and raised on the island of Puerto Rico, and Spanish is her first language, so I figured if anyone knew better, it would have been her. Ironically, being knowledgeable with the Spanish language myself, I knew this but the thought never even occurred to me. I just picked a name that I thought would reflect the top-down-with-sun-on-your-face nature of the car, and I wanted a kind of Spanish flair to it as well. Soledad ('sol' = 'sun' in Spanish) fit the bill perfectly.

Since Johnny Raincloud ruined my parade, I needed to find another name. I had been deliberating back and forth for weeks with different names, but every time I kept coming back to 'Soledad'. One afternoon, I found myself contemplating the mantra upon which our cars were originally built - Jinba Ittai - horse and rider as one. Things began to make sense to me at that point. When I'm behind the wheel of this car, I am one with it. I am unencumbered. I have no cares, no worries, nobody pestering me. The exhaust note sounds like freedom, and every white line says 'goodbye'. I am alone with my thoughts, the kind of peaceful solitude that people wish their lives away in anticipation of. There is nothing. Just me and an empty road. Solitude. Soledad.

I named my MSM after the woman I bought her from, Stacy. Her name was Stacy Swallows, and she works for Siemens, no joke. The first test drive I took was on her lunch break at the Siemens building by UCF.

She's a black '97. There's the song Black Betty. I like Bettie Page, I like the Rocketeer. The Rocketeer, Cliff Secord, has a girlfriend named Betty who is heavily based off of Bettie Page. So, I named her Betty.

Nice. I got lucky and found Starslayer issues #1, 2, and 3 at a local comic shop in the back issues bins about a year ago. Not mint copies, but still neat to have them. I have the hardcover IDW put out a couple years ago is fantastic, The Rocketeer never looked better. If you haven't read the new comics IDW put out, check'em out, pretty neat stuff. Especially the Rocketeer and Spirit crossover.

Wow, thanks for the info, also a Spirit fan- did not know the Rocketeer had been brought back, dropped out of the comics scene for quite a while, haven't even been in a comics shop since Feb 2011. Just ordered the Rocketeer/ Spirit crossover trade.
