My sister is the one who got me into Miatas, and she had ( ) a Lava Orange MSM which was named Cheeze-it, her husband then got a white NA and named it Cracker. So when I got my car I figured it had to have a food related name, but couldn't think of anything! I drove the car to school for a basketball game and one of my friends said something like "Oh hey, didn't know you were here! I didn't see your car!" Then she looked out to the parking lot and said, "Oh there is your little Nugget!" The name stuck and now my car is referred to as Nugget!

Speaking of a food related name, when I bought my 1st Miata back in 1991, a Mariner Blue. I had been driving it to work for a week or 2 and an older lady that worked with me started calling it the Jellybean. So the name stuck and she named my car.

Our Miata is called MiMi. When we bought her I took my granddaughter for a ride, she asked what kind of car she was. I replied a "Miata" and she said "You should should call her MiMi."

Nikaime (not going to type out the kanji). It's Japanese for "Second Lap" or "Second Chance". It was my second miata and the first one was totaled, so it was like my second shot at having a nice car.

Jenna but I didn't name her. My son bought the car and when she died I took up the cause...

and fixed her up a bit.

My car is called Rosso for short. It's named after Porco Rosso, the main character from my favorite Miyazaki movie. (That's a boy's name I guess, but screw convention, my car has no sex. It's a car.)

I'm an animator by trade, so as such, I gravitate toward inspiration from animation. Porco Rosso's a pig who pilots a red airplane. To me, he represents freedom, and contradictory impossibility (flying pig).

Not my granddaughter. I may be old, but I'm not dead. We older fellows appreciate a nice form also.

My Miata is called the Rat.

My Dad and I bought a retired '90 Spec Miata. The previous owner kept it on the side of his house. When I drove it home, my Dad followed me in his car. I turned right onto a main street and gave it some gas, and a big Rat dropped out from the rear bumper and ran across the street. From that day on, we refer to the Miata as the Rat. Kind of fits too as the car is a dedicated track car... a Track Rat!
