Adam is the embodiment of customer-concentric! Love working with him on my tiny purchases. But cannot wait to do a custom.

09-15-16:Received a few parts today for two different projects. The first being ''REMOVE BEFORE FLIGHT" 35''x3'' nylon flags....

....the plan is to use one(bought three) for the soft top handle to make raising the top easier, mostly for my wife but it probably isn't the greatest on anyone's shoulder. I will PROBABLY trim down the length some, we will see. This idea was inspired from fellow Miata enthusiast doane2u, who used a modified 'dog leash' to accomplish the same goal.

The next item is a set of used soft top latches and bases from Tom at The Parts Group....

...these will be sanded down and given a satin/machined finish to match the various other metal parts in Warbird's interior. This idea/project credit goes to smy003 a fellow mazdaroadster.net enthusiast from ''down under", aka Australia. He polished just the latch handles but my PLAN is to do the whole visible assemble and base.

Last up is another ''detail'' piece that will go with the soft top latch project and that is custom stainless steel soft top latch locks...

....these are made by fellow enthusiast Ryan aka gdnimr0d. I saw these on this thread, http://www.miataturbo.net/miata-part...h-locks-82186/ , back in 2014 and wanted to get a set but just kind of forgot about them until smy003 posted his soft top latch project. Then I recalled the ss soft top latch locks and literally went thru 150 pages of the for sale section on mt.net but I started my search a few pages shy.

Thankfully after remembering a key word I left out of my Google search, LOCK, I was able to locate the thread. Sent Ryan a email and within a few days had everything worked out and a set in the mail. Obviously I can't comment on fit/function/etc. until they are installed but I am optimistic as I have bought similar custom parts from fellow Miata enthusiast with great results.

These two projects will hopefully get down in the next week, so check back for the results!

@HarryB: Thank you sir! Hopefully they turn out like I am hoping.

09-15-16, cont'd: Decided to tackle the easy project of the ''REMOVE BEFORE FLIGHT'' pull for the soft top. Not much to this and I was going to complicate it by seeing if my mom could sew it where I wanted it to double up for strength and to shorten it but decided to go a simpler route.

Went to Walmart and picked up some 1/4'' eyelet grommets and tool, like so...

...of course I verified what size the bolt was first, which was just a little smaller than a 1/4''.

First thing I did was shorten the end that was going to go under the soft top handle. Then I used the handle to measure the hole placement, which was approx. 2'' from center to center. I used a punch to start the holes and then used a stepped drill bit by hand to open the hole up to about 1/4''. I folded the end over twice to have three layers of material for the grommets to go thru and add to the strength of it, hopefully.

Next I put in one side of the grommet in and worked the nylon material over the grommet and then used the tool kit to secure the grommets. I installed it like that but decided to fold over the end where you would pull it and put a few more grommets to give the end a bit more sturdiness. This is the end result of those efforts...

....as you can see the outer grommets on the end you pull was a little to far to the edge...oops. I have two more if it rips(I doubt it) or bothers me too much.

As usual a before/after pic, not sure why I like to do this since most know what the before looks like, typically, but I guess just to show the contrast/difference?

It definitely makes pulling the soft top up easier! Unfortunately not enough to make it possible for my wife to do it from inside.....well that's just the way it goes sometimes. I THINK it will hold up to the task but if it doesn't no big deal I will just re-do it and make it stronger the next go around if it eventually fails.

I love the latest additions Chad. All if them. They suit your style very well. Sorry to hear you were not pleased with the zoom console fitment, though. It's one of my favorite parts, and I was going to get one, some day.

Please, PLEASE, can the next mod be a 1.6 dash swap? Please?

@RustRat: I appreciate the kind words Peter! The Zoom console is still a great part, imo, and yes a NA6 dash swap is on ''the list".

09-23-16: I was able to make plans, short notice as they were, to attend the Millionth Mx5 tour stopping in Texas at the Grandsport Speedway in Hitchcock, Tx.

Besides having the millionth mx5 to sign, VERY COOL, they had ND's for people to drive on the track but not till you first took a breathalyzer, did a acceleration/brake test and a control test(drive around cones).

This is the first time I have ever been too or driven on a track so I am by no means an authority of any sort but in my humble opinion the 1.5 mile course was nice with enough turns to keep it interesting, plenty of run off area, decent size paddock area and plenty of parking.

My wife and I arrived in Warbird at the track at approximately 12:15PM, the plan was to be there before 12PM BUT Warbird ran out of fuel less than 0.5 miles away.

Thankfully a very nice fellow Texan was at his business, L&D Sales, and was kind enough to look for some fuel for about 15 minutes before finally locating some! Thank you kind sir! He was even willing to drive me to the closest fueling station to get some fuel. Of course the gentleman wouldn't take any monetary compensation.

So why did Warbird run out of fuel? Because not long after leaving town on 09-22-16 I noticed Warbird's fuel gauge went from 3/4 to 4/4, that isn't right because obviously fuel gauges decrease with consumption. I continued to watch it and it did start going down. Well guess what the gauge showed when Warbird ran empty.....1/4 of a tank. Yup apparently that fluke came back to bite me. So I guess I need to reset the fuel gauge the next time I fill up Warbird.

Needless to say the event was a blast! Getting to meet up with Adam aka Revlimiter and Colum and Ben with Autoguide was a pleasure as well! If you have such a event coming near you I definitely recommend attending! Of course driving the new ND and getting a ride along with two SPEC Miata race car drivers was just the ''icing on the cake''. So here are some photos from the event, enjoy!

    One millionth mx5

My wife and my signature(Anna and Chad)

Look who is forever stuck with my wife and I in history, lol

Took a pic of Adam aka Revlimiter taking a pic of his custom millionth mx5 badge that read ''revlimiter''

A drone getting footage of the ND in action

Adam aka Revlimiter trying to get Ben w/ Autoguide wet

Adam starting his acting career, lol

    Memorabilia from the event

Some goodies that Adam aka Revlimiter was kind enough to bring me

So why did Adam aka Revlimiter come all the way to Texas for the event? Well isn't for little oh me but because he won the trip courtesy of Autoguide. Here is a write up on the vent from them(a few pics of Warbird made it in there):

And a video made by Autoguide of the event:

Also I FINALLY gave in to ''peer pressure'' and made a instagram account so if you are into that sort of thing you can find me on there with the same user name, @greasemonkey2000.

Ugh, I had hoped to never see Galveston, TX ever again in my life. Though I see it still looks dreary, no surprise there.

It was my pleasure! I took more pics initially of the event but after remembering how long it takes to upload to photobucket and KNOWING Adam's would be better, i decided to delete a lot of them. I had been trying to figure out what to get Adam and it was rather difficult and after he showed me his plaque ad it said revlimiter, I KNEW instantly what to get him. I had no doubt Adam would like it and cherish it.

Uh oh, bad memories? :dunno: I have been to the Texas coast only 6-10 times in my life and EVERY single time it rains at some point, if not the majority of the time.

I like it, just don't care to swim there...personally. The sites and food are really great though. I definitely recommend it if you were in the area, don't know about coming from another state for it though.... ...unless it is a all expenses paid trip.

Again thanks to you for the gift to Adam!

Have you ever tried Imgur for your photo uploads? That is what I use and I don't run into the ads being forced on me 30 seconds after I open the pic.. Not to solicit a site. But with your and a bunch of others posts. When I zoom in to the pics. ads pop up.

Running Windows based here. If you are Mac maybe the difference.

Oh, just a bad experience (long story, really long, involved having to eat at Waffle House too many times in a 3 day period). It's probably a fine place, but I don't care for it. Great place to leave a car in a garage and for it to still accumulate rust.
