    The flow ain't right. That roof is somewhere in the middle of an RX8 and a clown shoe Z3. It also reminds me of a 2+2 Nissan roof. It looks like that roof is extended further back than need be for non-existent rear passenger headroom.

    Even if it was done for more interior cargo/storage space, it's a poor reason. This is a Miata, you accept the lack of storage space for a great looking small sports car.

    If it ever becomes reality, that a Miata coupe gets made again, I'd love to see a fastback hatch.

    Yes, it just doesn't look right, I agree that a fastback would look better.

    Not to worry. The next FRS is supposed to be based on the ND chassis. You can get your ND fastback then.

    Safety standards are different for open roof vehicles versus coupes. That was the primary reason the short lived solstice gap had a removable lift off targa roof.

    I believe mazda s fine efforts to lightweight the ND mx5 would preclude a fixed coupe variant.

    Hope this lends insight.
