    Teejay`s 99 Miata

Hi everyone! My name is Truls and I live in Norway. Here`s the story of my car.

I bought the car stock in March 2013. Back then it looked like this. Chrome style car, leather steering wheel cover, and a lot other small stuff I wasnt very fond of.

    March 2013

    March-June 2013

I wanted bigger wheels to get a different look on the car. Went with Rota Grid 16x7. Three of them were bent despite being new. Returning them to the US was not an option, so I was stuck with them for a while. Also removed that stupid style bar.

    July-September 2013

It was riding great, but it was not as fun as I hoped it would be. So I lowered the car on TA Technix (European Racelands?) and put on some 16" Rota Grids. Fitted the seat on the stock rails. Took all night..

It now was low. ended up being crap to drive, but I liked how it looked.

Boss Frog Double Hoop. Why? Because I like to take the top down with one hand without the glass window breaking..

I wanted the JDM look. Big license plate in the front.

    Me and my friends Miata!

    October 2013

I bought cheap blacked out headlights from Japan, along with a Mazdaspeed tower brace. I made a shortened intake and swapped the spark wires. This was when my taste for JDM parts grew a lot. You`ll see as this thread progresses...

Some tasty stuff from Japan. AWD "Into the blue" gauges, along with a Nardi deep corn with red stitching.

    Got the AK trunk mounted!

    November 2013 - March 2014

Not much happened. Having fun in the wintertime, harassing the shit out of the car.

    March 2014

    More bits and pieces incoming!

Seat! Authentic Bride XAX II in leather with red stitching to match the steering wheel!

    Torsen differential

    China header

    April 2014

    Waiting for parts...........................

    May 2014

Mounted new exhaust! Of course I tried starting it with only the header connected. It set off the alarm in the store downstairs

I borrowed these SSR Mesh wheels from a friend. I thought they would never fit. Being 15x7.5 ET17 in the rear. I turns out they looked awesome. I begged him to sell them to me. He did, with a buy-back guarantee. To bad I will never sell these again.. At that time I felt that the car was complete.. That did not last long at all...

    June 2014

Back from vacation. And almost 2 weeks without driving the car.

The paint was cracking and coming loose on the wheels. Needed to do something about that. So I used plasti dip on the centers. I also changed to Mazdaspeed competition engine mounts while the wheels dried. I was getting bored while waiting for the paint to dry, so I mounted a double exit exhaust tip as well.

And this is the outcome of the painted wheels and exhaust.

    July 2014

So I bought a muffler while surfing yahoo auctions drunk. I was surprised that it fit right away! SO WHEN DRIVING AT SPEEDS OVER 20MPH I HAVE TO YELL FOR THE PASSENGER TO HEAR ME!!!11 It took half a year for the muffler to settle.. Or my hearing is reduced...

    August 2014

Mounted GarageStar frame rails. They do stiffen up the chassis a bit, even though my frame rails were intact to begin with.. I am also into 3D printing, so having printed stuff in the car is fun.

Mounted my fender braces. They stiffened up the car quite a bit on turn-in. Now I can really appreciate having lighter wheels and good tires.

    September 2014

My first auto-X and my second time at a track. I had the best time of everyone

    November 2014

My fog lights were in a bad shape. I got a set of Hella fog lights from my father, but I needed an adapter to mount them. I mocked up a design and printed it. It worked perfectly.

A friend of mine custom fabricated a differential brace for me to try. It did it`s job along with the Torsen and the poly bushed for the diff. No more differential movement and missed shifts.

Bought new winter wheels and a hardtop. It needed paint of course, since both were in a rough shape.

My friend letting me borrow his shop for getting the paint done. Nothing funky going on here Sorry for the bad photos. I guess my camera was as high on fumes as I was.

    December 2014

Mounted the painted stuff and a CarbonMiata HT wing and rain deflectors. They call my car the "snow plow"

Nice work on the car, I liked all the mods done so far on the Miata especially the double hoop roll bar. Norway looks nice BTW! keep up the good work.

January 2015 - February 2015. New year, new possibilities

Bought some cluster pieces a while back. Wanted to do something with them.. so I bought a set of Revlimiter`s Warbirds.

Testing and calibration. Managed to fry some stuff, but I managed to solder it back together.

    Snow is fun

I mounted a megasquirt sometime in this period. I can`t remember when.. I bought it because I would need it to progress with my modifications. Better use the time to learn it while I decide what to do with the engine.

    March 2015

Bought myself a set of really good coilovers.

I did my first big batch of 3D printed parts

I bought an ITB kit from Japan. I thought it was for an NB8 engine. It was not.

    April 2015

Made a little adapter to replace the MAF. No more restrictions! Printed it with a threaded hole for the IAT sensor.

Since the other ITB kit didnt fit. I bought another one. I am in progress of getting parts for it now. Printing new trumpets and stuff..

    May 2015

New tires and new coilovers mounted!

    June 2015

Finally received the wing and the OEM trunk! The color is a perfect match as well!

    Workshop!

And that was everything so far. I have probably missed half of what I have done to the car...

Future plans: Nothing else than getting the ITB kit mounted and running. Converting to Alpha-N on my MS, and getting my wheel arches rust treated..

Thanks! I guess I picked the longest straw then! I remember the bidding war was intense. I did not get much done at work that day haha..

The suspension is one of the greatest upgrades so far. Silky smooth, but more than stiff enough for trackdays. Miles above the V-MAxx XXtreme`s I had earlier!

    Also, thanks guys!
