Very nice Randy. Happy New Year. I have those carbonmiata door cups in my pitcrew roadsters along with the red Nakamae seats. I like the direction you are going in.

It is cool to see you building another stand out roadster too as back in the day your white roadster, guys like retrorocket, Chris the chap in the U.S. with the black N2 roadster and a few in Japan, etc. inspired me to understand and investigate the MK1 roadster in great detail.

Very nice guy, thanks Hanmerhead for the referral. He is gonna use a water based stripper which is what I wanted. And the prime and paint the top section of the dash in the matte black again.

I did not strip or paint it, I had an automotive custom interior guy do it for me. It was about $350.00 so to me it was worth not having to hassle with it. Plus I have very limited time lately.

Many thanks to Scott Jette of Gulf Coast Vinyl Care for the awesome work!

And it's all finished ready to go back in the Miata.

Agreed. And $350 is a steal. I wish we had such cheap and talented auto restoration labor available where I live. First, you cannot find any businesses to take on this kind of work period. Second, if you could, they'd charge $800 or more.

Taking apart this 91 BRG dash to powdercoat the dash support bar, and then use it in the 93le Miata.

Here is the dash bar removed from the dash, this dash only had 44k miles on it so it has very little surface rust. All that will get removed in the chemical wash and then powdercoated. Gotta find some other parts to powdercoat at the same time so all my OCD clean can be done.

These stupid machine screws that are used to "ground" the dash bar to the rest of the car are seized, and of course they stripped

I tried to drill them out and use and extractor to remove it but that failed.

So instead I pulled out the lock-jaw and crimped the backside of the screw and was able to break it loose. And yes those nuts on the backside are welded on.

Is the LE dash really red when you strip the black paint on top?
MIATA...incredibly fun to drive - as that is its only purpose for being.
