What head gasket set would you guys recommend?

So I am in need of some head work. What is the best option for our NA in this day and age? Has aftermarket surpassed OEM Mazda yet? Thanks.

Unless you are doing something exotic, OE head gasket. Spend money on ARP head studs.

    ^ that. Exactly.

And don't torque the studs too tight. The ARP recommendation is incorrect.

Ok Sir Adam please share the experience. What is the final recommended torque spec for the ARP? Would it be same as the OEM?

Oh and the connecting rods I have ordered are also coming with ARP bolts but then again those won't be squeezing a head gasket.

IIRC, ARP head studs are 60 or 65 ft/lbs.

I did a whole blog post about it. My ARP studs came with a little paper saying to torque to 80 ft/lbs.

Stock torque is 54-60 ft lbs.

And use the OEM washers instead of ARP ones. They spread the force out better.
