    Madison - Demon's other-other white Miata

So, sometimes things happen to line up at the right time. I am not the type of person to call it fate, but this weekend worked in my favor. I had an accident in my black 2000, which has left it inoperable. I needed a replacement quickly. After scouring the web, I was not left with many valid choices. I decided to be extremely picky this time around. I wanted NB2, under 100K, and bought from a private owner. And I found her about 50 miles away from home.

She was owned by 2 people previously, the last having been a retired insurance man. He has owned her since 18K, and gave me every receipt for every repair/oil change/et c. made. Most of the receipts are from the local dealership, as well.

I think this car has every available option other than the 6-speed. Leather, remote keyless, Satin Silver finishing on the surrounds, door handles, and vent rings, Wind blocker with the speaker bar. The Bose system is completely functional with no blown speakers. Fancy-pantsy! Car also came fully detailed inside, UNDER, and out, new tires (albeit an unknown to me brand), brakes, AC repair, fluids. Clutch is nice and tight, suspension is a little floppy- but that's probably me being used to the MSM suspension.

It's about as wonderful as an 11 year old car gets, but of course there are some negatives. Minor scuffs on the lower front lip and the passenger side skirt, the usual driver seat wear, 1 parking lot ding, and a pinhole in the Robbins canvas top-which was properly patched. The satin finish on the Driver door handle is flaking off a little, revealing the chrome underneath.

Not sure what the future plans will be for this car. I'm almost content with how it is in it's current form. Pretty sure the speaker bar will come out, and a roll bar will go in. Maybe a different suspension, and the addition of HIDs in the projector housings. The Mazdaspeed wheels will get summer tires, and the stockers will become the winter month wheels.

    OK, enough words for now.

    Submitted for your approval: Madison.

As you can tell, I couldn't keep my hands off her, swapped in some of the previous car's goodies:

I switched out the Steering wheel for the NB's Sparco. I could not believe how oversized the stock wheel felt.

Installed the Injen intake for beautiful noises. Also threw on the Techno Toy Tuning oil cap, for maximum hand burning.

The Voodoo handbrake looks great with the interior color trim. Eventually I'll find a shift knob that I like and matches/can be made to match.

AWD Cluster and needle caps paired well with the stock white gauges. I had grown frustrated with the AWD gauges and the KPH/MPH math, as well as the lack of a CEL.

As much as I love the NB, the NB2 tupperware are not my cup of tea. That and the pink tails but at least your hardtop somewhat matches, right?

Honestly, I was not in love with the "tupperware" at first, but I think it looks way better in person. It has grown on me.

Great news mate! Car looks great; specs are exactly the same as mine, albeit mine is a 1.6. Still find the bodykit a bit ricey...

Wonder if they made a correctly colored window switch? the one in the car is too dark and sticks out.

    _yep... and ouch, expensive.

Nice car, you should ditch the tan top for a black top.

No, they won't. Mine is exactly the same, Mazda changed their interior colour in 2003 for a lighter hue of tan, but they did not bother with the switches. It still bugs me as hell on mine....

Ha, I'm learning quickly how polarizing this car is. Definitely turning out to be a love/hate thing with everyone I've talked to.

I plan on installing the Hard Dog rollbar, and removing the windbreaker/speaker panel. I'm not sure whether I should powder coat it before installing. The last white car looked great with the white rollbar. I think this one would look better with satin silver, to match the interior trim. Gold would match the Mazdaspeed wheels, when I get them installed. Any opinions?

Gold would look nice with the tan interior, so go for it. Silver would match the radio surround trim, but it would look odd with the top down and the gold wheels.

I might even sell/trade the gold wheels, but I really doubt anyone would want them/pay for their rareness. No one gives a damn about old-school wheel sizing anymore.
