Good to see a thread on this, I have to admit I was really nervous about selling it but I think it's clear to see from the lengths you're going to that it was the right decision. Funny to think that I've now owned 2 Pitcrews and a Wataru, and never driven any of them!!

    Russell.

Cheers mate i Know it wasn't a decision you took likely, i am glad you feel it has gone to a good home. I must say i was really looking forward to seeing the Wataru progress.

While the car was in the shop I went shopping, first stop was pit crew. I contacted Bill at miataroadster to place an order for the replacement front bumper bars, all pretty painless except for the long wait that comes with ordering parts from Japan. While waiting for the parts to arrive I asked Bill about the badge I was missing to see if he could do any think, he said he would ask and see what he could do so I left it at that. When it finally came time to collect, (import duty is a bitch) I was pleasantly surprised when I opened my JDM parcel.

I had the badge I asked about! Was not expecting that at all. So big Thanks to Bill for organising that.

Second shopping spree consisted of a search on yahoo Japan when I came across a seller who had listed a pit crew roll/style bar. made contact with Rod at Tetsuyagarage (also great to deal with) and that was on its way, followed by another long wait.

IMO the Pitcrew looks better without the bumpers.

More hard earned spent can only mean one thing! More car parts.
Beginning with the now discontinued - Royal Clover Silver queen key Blank.
As much as I have always liked the idea of these (and various other) key design, I could never justify spending that much on “A KEY

But in a moment of weakness (actually I’m lying it was really easy) I found myself putting in a order.

A very well made little item quite beautiful really with a great weight to it.

Next little item is something I had been trying to track down since acquiring the car at the beginning of the year.
I first came across it when (once again) vindi made a post some years back. Never seen one for sale before or since then, it took some hunting down and is another extremely rare authentic Pit crew item.

    Pit crew carbon cowl

Now as much as I love this item I don’t know if it will fit in long term?
Ultimately, it’s a modern piece in a very much 60s style car.

I can see both sides, on the right car with supporting mods they look right. on the other side they can look a bit out of place, i think mainly because they take away from the rounded front.

Thanks for sharing your restoration of this silver PCR. Few people have the means or desire to do a proper restoration like yours. It's neat to see you putting back all the rare PCR parts. When I saw the pics from the body shop my first question was why didn't you round off the bonnet and you answered my question in the very next post. It was like you were reading my mind.

We are now all pretty much up to date from the past 10 months or so, that was until this happened!

    It’s Back

This is how the car sits straight after picking it up from the paint shop. I am really, really, REALLY happy with how it has come out.

Unfortunately, my picture taking skills leave a lot to be desired, Coupled to the fact the weather is miserable outside, these pictures are going to have to do. The car won’t be seeing the road till the weather improve (about spring time) Still give it gives me Time to put it all back together and sort some jobs along the way.

One of the first thing I wanted to get done was to future proof the car in the form of rust proofing, and I have to decided (after much research) to go with Bilt hamber products to achieve this. http://www.bilthamber.com/

Only Time will tell how well it holds up, but I have high hopes after previously using some of their other products. On a side note, they have been a fantastic company to deal with, great on the end of the phone advice. Also one off my parcel arrived damaged with items missing (presumed lost) quick phone call had the missing items sent out the next day, with a hand written apology letter and a free bottle of Auto wash.

Not wanting to break habit here is an equally poor vid I grabbed mid-way through injecting the inner box sections/rear cill area, I did a lot of the work from the top down going through the drain channel etc. so this shows how much “creep” you get from this product.

Excuse the poor sound I had the blow heater on.

This was followed up by an application to the front cill and inner window surround. Up to now I have used four 750 ml Tins and planned to get another two for behind the front wings. For the under body areas + any were that is visible I will be using there under body clear wax. I cannot stand that black or brown under body protection from the like of DINITROL etc.

Managed to grab some time over the weekend, so built the doors back up. Not before stripping all the locks and window winder down, for a good clean up and re grease. Window screen is back in all with new rubbers, and the hood is temporally back on until I decide on a suitable replacement.

After all that I just had to pop this little lot in!

    Wow my pictures suck

There was already a pretty sweet set up in place consisting of the AWD Speedo gauge and AWD needles. I have now added the kg works surround Billet indicator/wiper arms and pit crew cowl.
