Just be careful with that ignition ring trim there Paul. Not the same brand but I've read that someone who purchase a Sazaire ignition trim ring couldn't get his key out and caused all sorts of grief

So yeah wouldn't want you to go through the same ordeal! Just a friendly heads up

Damn that is a tough situation over a trim ring....ill definitely be careful installing this one. Haven't heard any horror stories over the zeromotive piece.

    Paul B's 90 NA "Build"

Here it is installed. Six pieces of double sided tape on the backside hold it on pretty sturdy.

Position is a bit off center. Will re-position it later.

Key fits fine. Turns through each position without issue. The machined angled inner circle allows key to be inserted all the way.

Great looking piece that really cleans up that ignition area.

Stunning. I love my Aerodramatics door cups but had to settle for KG works pulls which isn't quite as satisfying as 100% aluminum!

Thanks!!! Yea I had thought about doing chrome plastic cups to save money but I don't think I would have been completely happy. The whole matching aluminum set is beautiful

You shouldn't have any problems with the Zeromotive ignition cover. Unlike the Sazaire one, it doesn't also have a cover for the ignition lock cylinder itself. And that is where the issue lies with the Sazaire piece. That extra bit of material ontop of the lock cylinder can cause some keys from being pushed in far enough to rotate the cylinder.

The OE key with plastic grip is fine. But a basic flat OE key with no extra grip can be an issue. I trimmed my spare basic OE key with a dremel in case I ever have to use it.

And if you look at the key the fellow that had all the trouble was using, you can see it's an aftermarket key.

Thanks for that heads up. Ill check my spare key carefully. Been meaning to get a matching spare off ebay to have made up.

Seems like my square head OEM key with plastic I have works just fine with the zeromotive ring. Not one to get all fancy with keys.

Beautiful Buffalo weather today and a few hours to myself means running a few errands in the Miata and some tinkering. Driving it feels amazing.

I had finally had enough with the plastic chrome Pep Boys mirrors. For $20 they were fun for the few years they lasted. Passenger side mirror was useless. Plastic chrome looked tacky. Dont really know what "theme" or direction the exterior of the car is going to go in, but I dont see these mirrors being apart of it anymore.

And part of me really loves and missed the OEM dumbo-ear mirrors. I really love what Mazda designers did from the factory and think I am going back to an "oem+" phase. Any other proper mirror costs $100-$200+ so I decided to scrap the pep boy ones and install the OEM power mirrors.

This car came with non-powered mirrors. I dont know off hand when they offered power mirrors. In my pile of parts of was a set of white power mirrors from a local miata that was parted out. Kinda beat up but they'll work. Eventually they'll be repainted when car is resprayed. For now I buffed out the major imperfections and polished them a bit. May do some paint touchups before full respray. These went back on but I didnt connect them to power or a switch. Maybe one day. Manual mode works fine. Just set them where you want them and forget it.

The extra holes I drilled in the door for the pep boys mirrors were measured in a spot during install that would be close to being covered by the OEM mirrors. It was close. Some hole was showing. Oh well.

Had to use a step drill bit and enlarge the middle hole for the mirror base ring and the wiring to go into the door. Kinda did a haggard job but luckily itll be covered by the power mirror base. Holes from old mirrors kinda show a little. Used some bumper hole filler to close up any openings. Ill use some white touch up paint to hide it. Used silicone on base of power mirrors to seal everything up.

Again, once car is resprayed, little things like these holes will be taken care of during body work.

And Im really really loving my interior. Couple more bits to go and the cockpit will be complete. My dream Miata interior will have been accomplished.

Thank you!! I love the oem shift boot. Been contemplating making something to hold a leather shift boot that would match the ebrake and steering wheel but id hate to cover up the simple beauty of the shifter and rubber boot lol

Got a part from Australia today. Omgpham tombstone blockoff plate. Replaces my old omgpham plate that had window switches and replaces my current haggardly made styrene plastic plate.

    Thanks pham! Love the sticker.

Was able to mount revlimiter's shift plate on the new omgpham tombstone blockoff panel today.

My preffered mounting method was to drill holes and have the shift plate screwed on but my drill bits were no match for the stainless steel plate. I felt the supplied double sided tape may be a bit too thick for my liking so out came the clear silicone. After some filing of the screws the screw caps were glued onto the plate for the screwed-on appearance. We will see how it holds up.

It may be changed up eventually if I decide the panel should be black. For now, I really like how it looks. We will see how it really looks once it is mounted in the car. Hopefully tomorrow.
