Ugly, but it'll work. I think Im going to use 3M panel bond. My local welder said it may be just as good as welding and would be easier.
Would be a pain in the ass to get the car to my welder all while keeping it dry.

So I will paint and coat all bare metal with some rust proofer then prime and coat with some paint / bedliner.

Quick test drive went without an issues until sharp slow turns where tires contacted a front fender brace tab. Hit them with the angle grinder seemed to have solved the issue.

Crazy this car is soooo much easier and fun to drive now with wider wheel and tires and these sticky tires. Love it.

Miata drivers who haven't experienced at least 15x8 with 225s or wider sticky(200tw) tires don't realize what they are missing! I think x9 or x10 wheels with 225 or 245 is going to happen for me. Can't wait to see the setup finished!

after my short drive today I can definitely agree with you. Last time I had this much grip in a Miata was when I ran Azenis on 14s waaaaay back in the day.

Car feels even more go-kart like. so fun.

Been tinkering each day possible with the Miata.

Today I got the rear flares painted with some color match spray can from ebay. Not a perfect match to my not-so-perfect 28 year old paint but it'll do. Ill have to get another can for the front flares.

Then tackled the Zoom Engineering start button. Pretty simple install. Had to enlarge the hole in the dash slightly with a file. Started the car with the button a whole bunch of times after install. So fun.

Then added my Revlimiter oil cap insert. Adam generously gave me two when I ordered the insert a couple years ago. IIRC it was the last two made before he went to something a bit different. The first insert was no longer usable after I switched valve covers and flubbed it up.

Next up will be APR extended lugs, some spacers, and edging for the flares.

Getting home from work at 1am seems to always lead to tinkering. The new and much nicer garage makes it inviting.

Tonight's tinkering was getting the Revlimiter gauge cup fitted for the water temp gauge.

Originally I had planned to put a gauge (not necessarily the water temp gauge) in the glove box. Well, last summer the glove box latch exploded so Ive been trying to limit items/weight inside it. Glove box also gave me issues closing properly with the other gauge wiring in the crash pad so Ive been trimming it down to be very minimal.

Eyeballed and marked the hole to be cut. Luckily I saved the template and vinyl cutout from the first two so that helped. Its not perfect but nothing I do ever is haha cup fits nicely. Will fit even better once gauge gets tightened up from the back.

Here are photos taken by a potato.

Now to figure out how to wire in the gauge.

    I really hate wiring.

A while back I messaged Ken at Retromodern USA about putting a vintage style bulb in my dimmer roller switch.

    Here is the result.

Also got a new set of wiper arm caps. These are beautiful. Slimmer and nicer looking than the first set. Fit perfectly snug.

    Such beautiful pieces.

looks great, what hardware did you use to bolt on the fender flares? Did those come with the CM flares?

thanks! HJarware was separate. I used Downstar Inc low profile fender flare hardware. Has a rubber riv-nut insert that squashes as they get tightened. Im pretty happy with them. They may be a bit overkill...Kinda wish the washer head was a bit smaller but it looks nice.
