    Can Members help with shipping?

You know we all find parts that are being sold by someone across the country that don't want to ship. Any way we can set up local forum members that could help ship for other members? Maybe for a little extra $ for the help.

Case in point, I am looking for someone in the Washington DC area that could help ship a couple things to Massachusetts.

    Anyone?

We get our own Miata parts transfer system. When / if we travel to an area we can move a part closer.... Think Ub... with out the death and dismemberment ( that doesn't always happen and is just a poke at what I have read standing in line at the grocery store reading the top-stories in the tabloids ). And we get our goodies. From far, far away.

Whom do we go to if the part gets misplaced? I just gave myself a downer with that thought.

Good question, i guess it's a deal between members that agree to do a fellow members a favor (and get a little payment for their services). The requester would assume the risk.

I once thought about how cool it would be to have members move something big, like a hardtop across country, like the Olympic torch relay.

You're a good one Randy... and I would do the same for anyone that needs me.

Is there an easy way to find members in/around a state? Because not everyone puts where they are from.

I've done it, but I incorporated people I have met an opportunity to make it work. I looked for a hardtop a long time. Stevan knew of one being sold at an excellent price. He is in TX, I lived in CA. We had a mutual friend hauling a car from FL to CA and we made worked it out so that the hardtop made it to me.

I helped Anthony get his hardtop similarly. I am also helping Woolery score some parts that popped up here in Atlanta. It's a person network of friends and trust.

Well if Randy or Wasabi have a trip planned for NC yell at me first. Beer and steaks as a carrot? Who knows. But I am hell-bent on getting 'Noir's' arse off the ground and ready for the gathering. Feals are the plan by mid-June. And then I can install some dust-covered parts that add weight.

I also got massive help from Randy with some overseas orders that would have killed me on shipping otherwise. Thanks again!

It is a little weird, now, thinking about this. I have have friends or friends of friends help me out a lot with car parts. The e30, I had a friend 2 hours away go buy and hold a pair of front seats for me for about 2 months. When I bought that car, I was buying it from a friend and he held it until I had a chance to divert on a my way home from a business trip. He picked me up at the airport, let me crash at his place that evening, and I drove it 5 hours home.

When I relocated from Michigan to North Carolina in 03, I made arrangements with friends and their friends to drive my Miata down, so I could pick it up. It changed hands 4 times and I had to drive from Deal's Gap back to Charlotte. It worked out great.
