    LE Speaker Panel questions

Couple questions for those of you who have installed LE speaker panels.

I picked up my set off ebay and Its missing almost half of the screws. Couldn't find any other sets that came with the black backing panel and speaker grille plus all hardware.

Where can I source new fasteners for the panels?

How does one go about fastening them to the panel? Any photos of how they attach?

Cant wait to get them polished up and put on the car.

    Thanks!

I went to my local hardware store for the panel to the plastic bit. I went with allen head stainless to attach the panel to the black backing panel. Now to mount the black panel to the door panel You go in from the back with a self tapping screw through the panel itself.. Or at least that's how I did it...I think it looks rather well.

What Travyss says is correct. You can use any nice stainless screw of the apropriate thickness to fasten the teardrop to the black backing plate. I had one set that was missing these screws, so I went to the hardware store to find them, however none were short enough, so I Dremel cut them shorter.

The stock screws for fastening the backing plate to the door panel are the same as used to fasten the elbow pad to the top of the door card. The stock door card also has holes that line up with the holes in the backing plate, even if the holes are not present in the door card vinyl. I used a leather punch to make these holes in the vinyl.

The backing plate screws go thru the back of the door card.

Here's a tip. If you are buying new stainless screws to mount the teardrops to the backing plate and the ony ones you can find are too long, go ahead and screw the teardrop to the backing plate, flip the combo over onto a tabletop and Dremel cut the screws flush.

Here's and example of what mine look like. Sorry for the bad quality.

The 2 middle black screws are different, because they are used to attach the black knee pad in place. The other are allen head screws.

Thanks for those photos! That helps a lot. Was curious if it was possible to use a new screw with a nut if i had to .

Now i gotta recover my spare set of full door cards or buy a new set.

Anyone have experience with CarbonMiata door cards? Dont plan on doing the quilted setup , just plain leather or faux leather.
