head up - Garagestar license plate bracket type I

I bought two of these autumn '12

One for a friend of mine and one for my garage-slut that is not driven that much.

My friend on the other hand uses his car.
After 3.5 year and 25-30 K miles, this happens =>

So if you have this piece installed, check it now and then.

I have the same Garage Star Type 1 NA Miata License Plate Bracket / Holder purchased in February 2012. Looks like a fatigue failure due to the material not being strong enough where the slotted adjustment/ mounting hole is. To be fair, my car has been off the road for some time so I have much fewer miles on mine than most but I'll take a look when I get home.

Er... did you (or the friend) TELL GarageStar about this? I know if it was one of my products that failed, it would be a whole lot more helpful to actually email me about it than to post on a forum.

Ken is a great guy. I'm sure a replacement would be shipped out ASAP.

That's aluminum right? It has the tendency to work-harden under cyclic loads and then fail due to fatigue if too thin. That being said, I am with Adam; e-mail them first, they might be able to help, plus any respectable manufacturer will most likely improve the product as well.

This is post is meant as a head-up for you to check your bracket, nothing else.

I have nothing but good experience with Ken@Garagestar, he is a great guy.

I will e-mail Ken as my intention was.

A email is always a better way instead of posting something on a forum. As always we stand behind our product and will replace it.
