Spyder Grill Project: Give your opinion!

    Hey guys,

OK so we are going to develop the Spyder Grill for the ND. It will be made in plastic and will be replacing the current grill (we will visit the supplier this coming week and check all the details).

    Picture of the grill:

So we have a few questions we would like to ask you:

    - Do you want any letters to be on the grill maybe not Spyder but we were thinking Miata (same number of letters) or if you have any idea let us know! We will only make one mold of course so we can only have one choice!

    - Is the mesh design like the picture acceptable? I think it looks pretty good!

    - We will also propose the round LED lights option just like the picture. Do you guys have any requirements about this? We will use high quality LED lights with the rings for a clean and modern look.

That's it, thanks for sharing your opinions!

    Marc

I love it exactly as it is!
It would be easy for the owner to add their own personalized lettering or badging.

That is one sharp looking grill! I especially like the lights placement. Personally, I'm not in favor of any lettering on it and keep in mind, most US cars are required to have a front license plate, probably right where the lettering is. I hate front license plates but maybe if there were an option to embed one into the grill so that's it's flush rather than sticking out, that would be nice.

    I see the pic..

I would leave it as is. No lettering. With fog placements. That looks so good! Would almost bet Chase has a pre-order on one all ready! LOL

I'm not sure as of yet. I think I'm going to get a regular trunk without the "sharkfin" and get the integral Kobe ducktail with the garage vary hood and fenders.

I have a build thread, but being a brand new car, funds are currently limited while I attempt to focus all of my extra money into paying it off as soon as possible. But of course that doesn't happen every single time and I have slipped up and bought some wheels, tires, suspension, front and rear sways, etc. however I haven't installed anything yet. Mainly waiting in the wheels. Special order from Japan and have an ETA of February.

But nonetheless, build thread should be livened up in the near future, and as long as this grill does not have any letters or words on it, it'll definitely be ordered and installed on my black ND, Luna.

What about a CarbonMiata recessed trunk with a CarbonMiata vented hood and CarbonMiata flares?

The first prototype of the SPYDER grille for ND is done! That's the version with the lights openings. It's only the lower part as the top part will be the exact copy of the OEM grille. We will test it ASAP but I am in France now for Christmas so we will have to wait a bit!

I think the best look will be with the frame in piano black and the center part textured black plastic (matte). On those pictures it was made completely glossy and I don't really like it.

So just to explain you guys, the grille will be like this one on the photo for people who don't want the lights except the area where the grille is solid (for the 2 lights locations) which will also be opened like the rest of the grille! For people who want lights, we will cut both areas and add the lights covers (I will install them this weekend hopefully and shoot some more pictures). Sorry for the dirty car, I drove all the way to the factory and I drove fast.

    Let me know your thoughts!

I always liked the Roush F-150 grill that had dual round lamps embedded. This is a great look... very OEM+.

Plate mounting is going to be a headache. Maine is another one of those states that requires a front license plate.

MIATA...incredibly fun to drive - as that is its only purpose for being.
