Installed a new PCV valve grommet and broke a likely 184K mile, 20 year old, OEM PCV valve. It still worked, thought I could get away with reusing it and the old vent hose... which was a wee bit less flexible than preferred. So, I had the PCV valve w/ hose attached plugged into the cam cover, and as I was attempting to flex the hose on to the intake barb... *EXPLOSION*... as the PCV valve shattered in half.

Guess while still functional, it wasn't optimal as it must have become quite brittle from age and all those heat cycles. New PCV and vent hose already ordered. Lesson learned, the hard way. as I had to remove the half of the PCV valve still in the cam cover piece by piece.

Oh, and if wondering why a new grommet? The old one ripped when removing it to prep the cam cover to make it look pretty. More on that later.

Speaking of, does anyone have a source of new PCV valves? If higher rated than OEM, even better. I know people have been using 323GTX ones for boosted applications

I got mine from that seller. But it's just a standard BP05 PCV.

I rarely buy from Moss or GoMiata because by the time they add their shipping, it's more costly than other options. And it's not too often they have the best price to begin with.

Not today, but a few days ago.

Fab9 sells the GTX PCVs for $20, which is as cheap as I've found.

The turbo PCV Mazda part # is E301-13-890A

It can be found cheaper than Fab9's price once shipping is added (Fab9's shipping is $9 on the PCV]. Check ebay.

I know you got the compressor going. But with all these installs is there a chance you are going to 'Palooza?

We need more of both 'Cacalakie love in the herd down in them parts.

NM fellow nut! Just hit your build and see that you probably ain't gonna be down.

{ we have to talk southern' so they misjudge us )

Nah, It's highly unlikely that I'll make 'Palooza. Which is a bummer, because I would love to go. Hopefully I can make it next year.

On the upside, Betty continues to get better and more refined. I think the only other NB update I'd like to do is an NB starter, but it's not a priority. Anyways, once I'm done, she'll have a fully refreshed suspension.

Replaced my Hawk brake pads with ceramic pads because I could no longer stand the squealing. Yes, the Hawk pads grab like a pit-bull, but the noise just ruined the fun of driving (or rather, stopping).

After driving with DTC-60's on my Miata for 3 years, daily, I am immune to brake squeal and incredibly spoiled when it comes to pedal feel and bite. I put some track day pads on my Civic, I just can't stand a mushy pedal anymore. And that smell when you start to fade them can't be good for you.

I rotated my tires and while they were off, washed the barrels. Filthy! Washed and cleaned it too, after the recent dust storm.

I finally put on the MX-5 badge as well, scuffed it up a bit so it didn't stand out as much over the faded paint/other chrome.

Mine made it back into the drive from the 600+ mile trip up from 'Palooza. We hit some curvies on the way home as a treat and exclamation to the event.
