I don't like the screwdriver slot on top of the OEM bolts so I made me a set without it

i made myself a camera mount on my rollbar's diagonal, enough to support my D90 with 11-16mm lens!

the thread pitch of the support bolt is a pretty generic size for cameras, so i'll get something with better video quality someday!

That's pretty cool! You should do a short DIY showing the parts sed and where you got them.

    ScanGauge DIY BlendMount

Low-cost DIY BlendMount for my ScanGauge

    963_0426x.jpg

    963_0427x.jpg

    963_0442x.jpg

*Please ignore the aluminum bracket wrapped around the top and back of my ScanGauge. That was part of the previous mounting solution and I was not going to be able to remove it without a lot of trouble, so I just left it attached.

    $4.56 - 6436K72 (McMaster-Carr) - Two-Piece Clamp-on Shaft Collar, Aluminum, 3/4" Bore, 1-1/2" OD, 1/2" Width
    $2.90 - 93505A197 (McMaster-Carr) - Aluminum Male-Female Threaded Hex Standoff, 1/2" Hex, 1" Length, 1/4"-20 Screw Size
$6.62 - 98511A621 (McMaster-Carr) - Lightweight Aluminum Socket Head Cap Screw, 1/4"-20 Thread, 5/8" Length, Plain Silver, Pack of 10
(you can save some money by using a normal screw here)
    $7.13 - 06484 (purchased locally) - 1' of 3M "Dual Lock" heavy duty velcro
(I highly recommend this over traditional velcro, as the adhesive used with this velcro should not sag/melt when it gets hot in the sun.)
Piece of scrap aluminum angle bar that I had on hand (it should be pretty cheap at your local hardware store)
1/4" lock washer that I had on hand (again, this should be inexpensive if you don't already have some)

Drill and tap 1/4"-20 hole in shaft collar.
Cut excess threads off end of standoff.
Apply loctite and insert standoff in collar.
Cut angle aluminum to length of Scangauge, use heat (optional) and hammer to flatten the aluminum from a 90-degree angle into the desired angle.
Mark and cut notch for data cable.
Drill 1/4" hole for bolting to standoff.
Cut and attach velcro to bracket and to ScanGauge.
If desired, mask velcro and paint bracket.
Mount shaft collar on mirror neck, mount bracket on shaft collar, attach ScanGauge to bracket.
