I'm sure you'll get it sorted, but sorry you have to deal with it. If I haven't said it, I'm really glad you are putting the TICK back together.

Me, too. Thankfully haven't yet hit the point where my wife says "get rid of it...too much stress and money".

Also trying to hunt down the source of this weird little whistle sound when the engine revs. Almost sounds like what happens when you leave the Aux on but the plug isn't properly grounded. You get this little almost electronic whistle noise that changes pitch with engine revs.

That is the spring going slack and unseating in full droop. I'm surprised the other side doesn't do the same.

Alternator or PS belt(s) too tight?

I was thinking the same thing. It might be, but of course it's hard to judge sides of the car. Also, when I pull into the driveway, the passenger's side is essentially loaded the whole time because it hits the driveway first. Guess some tender springs might be needed in the future. I'd already thought about going to shorter springs

I had to replace the PS belt because I depowered and added the unicorn PS pulley but wanted to keep my AC. Maybe I should try loosening it a touch? It doesn't sound a like a belt whine, though.

I don't think you need shorter springs. I looked back at your suspension pics, I think tender springs would likely help (if this is what you are hearing), and a separator between the springs. It appears you have enough length on the threaded sleeves to add them. What are the coil diameters?

I honestly don't know diameters. I presume they're 7" springs, and I was only thinking shorter springs because I'm almost at the bottom of the sleeves once the proper height was set. I don't think I have a final "installed" pic, so that's not obvious.

    Ahhh, makes sense.

I agree, shorter springs, a spring connector, and tender/helper springs to take up the void under droop, would be a decent choice.

This is what I mean by a spring connector:

    And it works like this:

Remind me which mounts you went with (I'm v lazy today). I was thinking of buying new ones as well. Maybe we could trade 1 for 1 if you're interested in a hybrid setup.

I think they're old V8 Roadster mounts, but they remind me of the Supermiata ones.

I agree with KFJ on suspension; generally speaking the hardest you go on springs, the more you need helpers to retain useful droop travel. What spring rates/lengths are you running?

    Should be 2.5" diameter 550lb 7" front, 375lb 7" rear.

Wow. That's higher than I was expecting. OK, so try looking at Hyperco for helpers and connectors, maybe even the shorter coils you need. I've used them in the past with very good results. There are other manufacturers as well. MAybe take a picture of your shocks so we can see the amount of threaded sleeve you have left.

    Good deal.

Any ideas where I might find some torque specs for the front end? I need to go on a tightening expedition.
