Keilani's 1993 Crystal White Miata Build

    Hello friends,

I hope all is well! A little car history about myself, I was always surrounded by cars ever since I was a child whether it was my older brothers several 240sx's or his other turbo, supercharged cars or my uncle's muscle cars. Cars have always been in my life and as I grew up I gained a passion for them. My previous build car before getting into Miatas was a 2001 Phoenix Yellow Acura Integra Type R. It was my dream car as a child and I had a wonderful time with mine, they are truly amazing cars. I ended up regretably parting mine out and selling it due to moving and not having a garage space for it. Fast forward a bunch of years and several cars later I was always into Miatas but I could never find a clean example. I looked at over 30 miatas over the span of 6 years and didn't find anything worth my time. On my 25th birthday, I found a 1990 Classic Red Miata with only 125,000km that was very clean inside and out. I ended up keeping that for only 2 months before something really special caught my eye... I found a 1993 Crystal White with only 50,000km, yes 50,000km. I said what the heck let me post my red up and see what happens. Little did I know the first person who came to see it fell in love and bought it for their dads retirement gift. So there I was thinking wow I loved that car but I knew it was the right thing to do because the day I picked up the crystal white I knew what a new miata felt like. This car was babied by its original owner who was an old lady and only driven on sunny days. The first question she asked me when I was looking at it was "Are you going to winter drive it? because if you are I'm not selling it to you". Thats when I knew I had to have it.

My build plans are to keep it as clean as possible and I would like to first thank Max from Rev9Autosport for being my source for all my parts. Everything I have on this car so far is from Max because he provides the best prices and best communcation.

Okay lets get this build thread started,

Heres my 1990 Classic Red that I sold before purchasing my 1993 Crystal White

This is soon after I received the car after giving it a proper wash and cleaning. Bone stock looking so good.

Shortly after I picked up a set of 1993 LE 14" BBS wheels, which I really liked for the moment.
Also picked up a Nardi wood shift knob and parking brake handle that were in really rough shape that I restored.
I changed the spark plugs and spark plug wires as soon as I got the car.

Heres some photos from my appraisal for insurance purposes

Heres some photos from a drive in style theatre event that a Mazda dealership hosted for Miatas, which was pretty neat.

Then I purchased and installed my RS Factory Stage SPL Muffler with Connecting Pipe and I truly love the sound of this exhaust. Beautiful quality aswell.

Heres a sound clip for my MR mates
Instagram link because it wouldn't let me upload to tiny pic

Also got them to put my Brand new OEM R Package front lip on, which I think is necessary

Next up I ordered a 360mm Nardi Classic Wood Steering wheel with polished spokes that I always wanted paired with a Daikei hub from Rev9.

Heres some pics of the install

As you probably saw in my install pictures, I picked up a complete tan interior from a 1997 BRG with only 30,000km sadly, the original owner suffered from some health problems shortly after buying the car new and left it outside on his grass where it sank for years. The car was completely rotted but the interior and 1.8 engine, which my friend took were perfect. The stainless scuff plates still had the blue plastic tape on it from factory and they were rusted sadly. I took the seats and carpet etc I love the tan leather seats and I'm going for a black/tan interior which I think looks great with white. My dream combination would be an LE red interior with my crystal white exterior.

Here a quick photo of my interior with the seats and wheel installed.
Also finally picked up a 5 speed Nardi tear drop. I didn't like the 1991 Nardi Wood shift knob, it was too lightweight. The Nardi Tear drop is an amazing shift knob and I actually have 2 5 Speeds now and 1 6 Speed Tear drops.

Should you not change your seatbelts when going from airbag to non-airbag wheel?
What is it called, "tear out stiching"?
