Agreed I haven't seen them available in the US (commonly) for a while. The Powerstop Track Day pads need a *little* heat in them, but after the first casual stop or two, they are fine. They do sell other performance pads that are more streetable, but I've not had any Code Brown moments in the Track Day pads on the street.

Great info as usual, thanks! These guys seem to carry ULTs (they are IMPOSSIBLE to find in Europe in Sport brakes fitment)

Ahhhh, I have been staying away from upgrading to Sport brakes to have a better pad selection.

Always a mystery why there are so few pad options for the factory "big" brakes. Supposedly Rodissons in UK makes a great dual duty pad, but I have no first hand experience.

Sorry for turning your thread in a brake pad discussion!!

    I did a thing.

    No worries!

I knocked out rebuilding the shifter after work today. Ordered the kit from 5X Racing, including the bronze bushing. I haven't had good luck with metal bushings in the shifter, so I wanted to see if things had changed.

    Here we go:

This is the kit of parts.
    IMG_8787.JPG

    Removed center console.
    IMG_8788.JPG

    My shifter boots were garbage.
    IMG_8789.JPG

After removing the shifter, I carefully cut the lower boot and lifted it off the shifter. I took the upper bushing and spring washer off.
    IMG_8794.jpg

Turkey baster sucks a good portion of the old fluid out. I use a towel to prevent drips/spills on the interior. I was using the baggie to collect the fluid. If it fell, it only fell on the ground, not the carpet.
    IMG_8796.JPG

I used a large set of channel locks and a socket to press out the rear detent. Once the shoulders of the detent were exposed, I used a flat head screw driver to work it out the rest of the way, as pictured. It took some effort, but I got it.
    IMG_8798.JPG

The forward detent, I used a blunt punch and a hammer to tap it out. This releases the lower bushing and spring washer.
    IMG_8799.JPG

Here are the new parts. R to L: upper spring washer, upper bushing, bottom bushing (bronze), lower bushing, lower spring washer. If you aren't sure how they position, look at the upper and lower bushings, they are cshaped to hug the surface of the fulcrum (large ball) of the shifter.
    IMG_8801.jpg

After installing the lower spring washer and lower bushing, I used channel locks to push the detents back in.
    IMG_8802.JPG

Fill the turret with fresh transmission oil.

    I did a thing.

    Continued...

Clip the upper spring washer on the upper bushing, there are reliefs in the bushing that show where the washer is to land on it.
    IMG_8805.jpg

Lubed the shaft of the shifter with light silicone grease to slip the lower boot all the way down the shifter.
    IMG_8806.jpg

Placed bronze bottom bushing in the bottom of the turret. I aplied synthetic grease liberally to the shifter fulcrum and lower ball. Insert the assembly and snug the bolts on the boot.
    IMG_8807.JPG

Slide the upper boot over the shifter, snug the four bolts down.
    IMG_8809.JPG

Replace insulation and center console. Test the shift action, including reverse.

    I did a thing.

I’m sure those are reputable pads, but not applicable for how I prefer to use my car.

Well, the weekend was a bust. It started with a broken garage door opener, which I repaired, but also brought the flu. I have been going through the effects of that over the last few days. It didn't stop the parts train, though. Adjustable endlinks, swaybar reinforcements came in on Saturday, Fab 9 COPs arrived Monday. I was feeling a bit well enough to tackle the COPs last night:

    About an hour later...

    And then the first try:

Response seems a noticeably sharper, I'll know more when I drive it a bit.

That was like my buddy’s ‘99. Solved all his coil pack problems when he went to COPS.

That's the plan, avoid that gnarly issue. Installation was really easy, the hardest part was removing the original coil pack. I had to refamiliarize myself with where the engine harnesses connect to the main harness (at the front of the engine), but it was all pretty straightforward.

The first start, the car was cold, so the idle was high. I wasn't feeling much like driving it when I finished. Maybe I'll drive t today or tomorrow. It's been a looong time since I've had the flu, this one is a little weird the way the symptoms come and go, but I think I'm heading back to full health.

On both of my NBs, I never experienced an issue with the coils? Was it real common?

Yes. They had a known high-failure rate, or are often the cause to fouled cats, O2 sensors, EGR fouling, and other issues related to rich/partial combustion.

Well damn. Mine just recently threw a code for the cat. Car seems strong though. No misfires or hesitation whatsoever.
