I bought TWO
KG Works Hard Top Visor/Louvers for NA last Dec.
It was made by afterparts company called
KG Works more than 20 years ago.
They planned to sell 100 of these, but the price was too expensive (90000yen or over 800usd) so nobody bought it and the roomer says that
only a few, possibly less than 5 was actually made
and 1 was used for the demo car on the picture.
It says in HP that only 3 was made by Dec.31,1996.
Unfortunately the owner of KG Works passed few years ago, so it is impossible to order their products now.
I found this one on March 2013 at the backyard of
the famous Roadster shop.
It was painted in mat black and looked like junk
but I knew that it was the one that I saw on a magazine.
One of the mechanic working there was happen to be the privious owner of KG Works demo car, so naturally I thought that this mat black louvers was the actual one taken from the demo car.
It was there the whole time untill last Nov. and nobody bought it.(or maybe didn't even bothered it)
It was time for my NA's Vehicle Inspection.
Since I was planning to buy DHT, I asked the boss of the shop if he is willing to sell it.
He said OK with no hesitation and took me to the back of the garage.
There I saw ANOTHER Louvers, painted in Alitalia color, the ORIGINAL louvers from the KG Works demo car over 20 years ago!
I told him that I will buy both(without asking the price lol) and asked if they kept the iconic 4 light pod from the demo car.
But the boss said that it was broken, and since it was a bit of a problem in Japan to pass the vihecle inspection with it on the bonnet, they threw it away.
(only 2 were made, by the way)
So now I happen to have 2 out of possibly 3 of very rare parts.
I'm planning to go to many Roadster meetings around Japan and show and share with other owners.
Note ;
This louvers is attached to the DHT using
3 bolts and nuts on the top,
2 tapping screws on each side,
and 5 tapping screws at the bottom.
Needs to water seal the hole for bolts.
It makes a small squeaking sounds when you drive the car because the louvers are being rubbed against the rear glass.
It becomes extremely difficult to wash and wipe outside of the rear glass.
You can see the back without problem, but you cannot see the back of 4 o'clock and 8 o'clock.
