    eBay Refurbished engines???

Hey guys I am needing a new engine for my 94 and I have looked into just getting a refurbished engine with warranty on it to turn around this project quickly.
Anyone here have used one from eBay? They are listed $1850 w/ free shipping.......what to be cautious about?
    Thanks in advance.

Never bought an engine on eBay before. I have bought a Cylinder Head before though.

What's important to bare in mind though is I had it shipped directly to the workshop of the engine specialist I was getting the work done. They inspected the head thoroughly. Most of the valve parts went to scrap and everything else got replaced for uprated parts anyway.

I was lucky, the cylinder head I got turned out to be solid with no issues, and anything that *may* have caused issues was binned off for immaculate new shiny bits that I do far haven't had issues with over 6000 miles later.

I'd happily buy an engine off eBay myself, but I'd probably strip the whole thing apart as a project. So far down to the point most of the engine would consist of new parts in the end anyway though.
You want a good car. I want a good miata.

I install JDM engines all the time and they cost half of what you're quoted.
    Putting a 99/00 in a '90 right now.
Certainly worth looking into where you are.
Last week I did a '97PEP, and the BP was shipped from AZ.
