It would be lovely to replace that fiberboard wheel cover with an aluminum one. I've always had the idea of removing the spare/jack and making ti all storage back there. Maybe install a quick clamp that holds tire slime/mini compressor.

I did that to a few of the hatchbacks I had in the past, but I used sheet plastic. For storage, a composite mould made from the pan would be neat, than add compartments and lid. Might be heavy though.

I removed the jack bracket and the spare tire holder from the center. Cleaned things up, laid down some sound/heat insulation and then did a quick trim job on the battery cover and carpet. Eventually, I'll make something prettier for a trunk liner.

I have a plug kit with a mini compressor that I can throw in the trunk for longer trips. For daily use, I just rely on my cell phone and AAA card.

I always thought this was a fiberboard battery cover; if you rotate it 90deg clockwise it follows perfectly the contour of the inner wheel well above the battery at least.

It is a battery cover. In Steve's pic, he just has it laying across the tire. The plastic piece on the bottom straddles the battery tied down to help anchor it in place, then it extends over the jack to rest on the edge of the tire. The two metal clips are for holding the jack handle.

I chopped mine a little shorter so that I won't extend into the tire area, since I got rid of my spare tire.

That's exactly how mine is installed as well; minus the trimming part.

    Sorry for the confusion!

I just laid the cover in there until I get it all buttoned up.

Here’s how the custom cuts on the moulded pieces work:

(my hand is easily reaching the adjustment knob)

I think some heat gun work on the moulded pieces may help fit them better to the trunk.

    Great work per usual.

I received notification that my relays should be at the house. Maybe I'll get the chance to drive her to work tomorrow.

I like those cuts for access to the adjusters. I have new coilovers on my short list of upcoming mods. I'm going to copy your idea.

Might not need to cut as much as I did. The cut on the left was made so I can reach in farther for other stuff.

    Wow.

No codes or anything? Perhaps check all the connections disconnected when you did the clutch (including the grounds).

Picked up a pressure washer unit for $20, no accessories (wand, hose, etc) but easy enough to source those. Got it all hooked up and tested it out today with a foam cannon...works pretty well overall.
