Second wind, wrapped up the wiring. I moved the fluid hoses around, basically just mirrored them.

I have some GM-type loom clips, used two to keep the wires away from the wiper arms. One went in a pre-existing hole in the firewall, the other is a 1/4” hole I drilled in the plastic wiper shroud on the passenger side. Pretty easy and clean.

I always wonder: is the heat shielding just as effective on the inside of the car as it is on the outside (tranny tunnel)? I worry about difficulty of installation (I don't have a lift, for one) as well as moisture getting up under the shielding eventually.

Heat insulation is a thermal barrier, right? So you are trying to prevent the heat from ever penetrating/heat soaking the metal.

So while insulation on the interior alone would help control the heat transfer to the cabin you want to prevent the transmission tunnel from ever getting that hot which it will be accomplished by insulating from the bottom. I plan on using a undercoating on the interior & exterior of the flooring as well as insulation.

Never had a issue with heat on Warbird even with the full exhaust, although the header had a paint on heat barrier and DEI titanium wrap, but Misfire definitely has the hot tunnel issue with a header even with the TDR heat blanket but it really only does anything in the bay not at the transmission tunnel.

Had a header and full exhaust on my previous nb and while the heat was noticeable it wasn't as bad as Misfire. Granted Misfire has a supercharger and making about 60-70whp more so..

Reflective heat insulation faces towards the source of the heat. I did this on my NA with very good results.

Ahhhh, ok. I was thinking of spending some of a gift card on this stuff, but didn't want to go to the trouble of trying to put it in the tranny tunnel.

That would likely be fine under the carpet, but it my experience, the DEI stuff mounted under the car was the best solution for eliminating the ‘hot foot’ without gutting the car to a rolling shell first.

OK. Just wanted to know if I was wasting [free] money (and time) or not

I used similar, much thicker stuff on my NA to replace the old jute insulation.

Wow...I'm not planning on going that thorough (zero desire to take the dash out other than to tighten down whatever the heck has started buzzing under it...).

    Did it work?

It helped. It also removed a lot of funky smells that old jute had been storing for a quarter century <shudder>.

A lot of stuff I do looks complicated, but items like pulling a dash are pretty straightforward if you take it easy. An extra pair of hards helps, but I’ve only done it solo, and would have been helpful.

Note...when detailing/cleaning engine bay paint, regular Scrubbing Bubbles works noticeably better than the generic stuff. ;)

Yeah. Intimidation factor is a thing for me

I see projects you did, like framing and sheet rocking a basement and it looks intimidating. It’s too imprecise for me and it takes me forever. Metal and plastics of manufactured parts are my jam. ;)
