    A few Rear View Mirror questions

    Hey guys. I'm looking to install a retro rear view mirror.

    Problem is I have a 97' and my mirror is mounted to the glass.

    Pic shows what I'm working with.

    What are my options? Will a KG works or Jass rear view bolt up to the mounting behind the dome light? I don't mind losing the dome light as I have a ton of lighting options.

    I know you can remove the mount with some heavy solvent and a razor blade.

    Thanks guys.

    KG Works and Jass should bolt up in place of the map light.

    Zoom Engineering is another option, they have about six different designs. Here is their Rakuten shop:
    https://global.rakuten.com/en/store/auc-zoom-eng/

    If you want to retain the windshield mount then you need their G03 arm, link: https://global.rakuten.com/en/store/...item/8863g_03/ , but if you want to mount it on the windshield header you want the G01(actually took awhile to go back thru Warbird's build thread to find this information), link for said arm https://global.rakuten.com/en/store/.../item/8457g_1/ . The rear view mirror design you may be interested in is the Compact Room (they have in silver and black, small and medium sized):

    Silver small:
    https://global.rakuten.com/en/store/...eng/item/8665/

    Silver medium:
    https://global.rakuten.com/en/store/...eng/item/8765/

    I'd suggest a Zoom Engineering mirror for the fact they use convex glass with a anti-reflective coating on all their mirrors which KG Works and Jass do not, iirc.

    ZOOM Engineering has the arm mounts for ALL years of miata and for lots of other cars.

    Just pick the style mirror you want and then find the arm mount.

    They are all sold separately

    Roadster7, but is the mounting the same as the early cars behind the dome light? If I remove the windshield mount I'll be left with a dark spot and I don't want that. I think I'm going to stick with the glass mount.

    Greasemonkey, so if I wanted to mount a ZOOM rear view, and retain the stock mount that is mounted to the glass, I need the G03 arm? Does that arm work with any other mirror?

    I think that's the move is the ZOOM stuff if I can't find anything else. I think it was Jass that makes one for the glass mount as well.

    G03=Miata windshield mounted (na8/nb/nc(?))
    G01=Miata header mounted(NA)

    Any Zoom Engineering mirror will work with one of their mounts.

    NA6 never had dome lights, on the NA8 Mazda moved the mirror to the windshield mount and put a “smoked” Mitsubishi dome light where the mount used to be.

    I think AgentOrange had the part number if you wanted to upgrade the smoked light to a brighter clear version.

    I had a clear one, but I wanted it to blend in so I smoked it myself and I bought a super bright LED to toss in. Works like a charm. I'm also wiring up some LED's into the visor holes.

    94-95 NA8s have the rear view mirror mounted on the header. 96-97 have the rear view mirror mounted on the windshield.
