    Best Mats

I got a set of Eunos mats from Japan (RHD) that I really liked the look of with the metal plaque but not a perfect match for the black loop carpet. Lately the driver side has been bunching up and driving me bonkers. I've searched to see what the best options are but coming up empty handed.

Any strong recommendations for fit and finish?

I love Coco mats. I never did buy any for my Miatas, but I loved them in my old E-series wagon I used to have.

I've been researching for replacements for my '94 with a black interior also. It has the later "fluffy" OE carpets, I'm assuming they replaced the OE 94 looped mats due to wear.

I have swatches here from Lloyd's, and despite the glowing review https://rallyways.com/6863/lloyd-ult...r-mats-review/ from Rallyways regarding the "Ultimat" material, if I buy, it will be the Classic Loop material. It is as close to the factory Mazda carpet loop as any of their samples, in black. The TruBerber mentioned in the article doesn't seem to be an option anymore, and the Classic Loop has the added benefit of being less expensive. $59 w/ free S&H, was the best price I've seen.

I've also considered buying some from the UK. https://www.mx5parts.co.uk/carpet-ge...25-p-1534.html The UK mats have a retaining hook (if only on the driver's side, where it matters most), like my WeatherTech's have in my XTerra and wife's Subaru. $37 from the link above, plus S&H.

    Hope that helps, -Matt

Damn, I'd forgotten about these. Thanks for the reminder Phat, now remember that Bill was bringing in the LHD versions. That's a lotta $$$ and wonder how they compare to coco's checkered weave.. https://www.cocomats.com/chequers-floor-mats/

They do look fantastic especially in the black and black which Coco don't offer (would have to be black and silver). Besides the original coco mats anyone have experience with the "checkers"?

There's also the Tuckin99 option through Bill, but I haven't seen any reviews on them.

What do you mean when you say they're bunching up? The carpet is coming apart, or the entire mat is sliding forward and folding in/up? If it's the latter, I had the same issue with my V-Special mats. The rubber they're made of is much thinner than the OEM "Miata" mats that I had, and they were stored folded in half before I purchased them. When laid flat, they would bulge up around the fold. I solved the issue by sewing Velcro to the bottom of the mat in the creased area, and along the front and rear edge of the mats. They lay perfectly flat not, and don't move around.

The Velcro isn't so nice to the carpet underneath, but only if the mats are constantly removed. It doesn't bother me since it's covered by a mat anyways.

It’s the bunching up, likely where they were folded when stored. Velcro is a great idea, don’t know why I didn’t think of that!!

My OEM checker mats do that, and I thought it’s because they are meant for RHD. I’ll give the velcro thing a try

My picks would be CocoMats (they are custom made) and/or KAROism. I have the CocoMats sisal in mine and I love them

I really rate the Moss rubber ones, as it happens. But I have Tuckin99 ones in my white car.

I'm really hard on car mats.

KARO mats are awesome. I have a set KARO Quest for my LHD Alfa Romeo 156 wagon.
The price is high but justified. Fortunately, I was lucky in the past and got a set at a good price at yahoo.
