Anyone running HB2 LED's in any headlights? H4/LED Replacement Bulbs.

Let me begin by saying, I like the 7" round headlamp look. It's part of the NA Miata's character, in my opinion. I know the low-profile, two unit headlamps are brighter. I am looking at replacing the OE sealed beams with Cibie 82440 or Hella E-Code's (I've read the Cibie's have a better pattern, but I'm open to input).

But what bulbs to use? Sylvania Silverstar's are what I'm running in my 2013 Nissan XTerra daily, and they're not overly impressive.

I see there are a LOT of "off brand" HB2 bulbs, with a huge price range. Most have cooling units that extend past the base, are there any clearance issues? Is anyone running this type of bulb?

    Thoughts? All input welcome! -Matt

Yup. Let’s see if I can help.

I looked at a lot of options myself when upgrading my headlights. I ended up sticking to the Hella encodes in the end, I’m not sure which brand of bulbs come with the kit, but it replaces the whole 7” headlight unit, fresh with a stronger bulb, new weather boot and non-rusty connectors. Took about half an hour to do.

It’s a major improvement on the stock lights without changing much else. The kit was pretty damn cheap too, just over $100 for the whole lot. Most other options start hitting the wallet too much for my liking, they’re lights at the end of the day.

You have a choice of bulb strengths, I went with the first option of 55/100.
You want a good car. I want a good miata.

I went with the Raybrig clear option and some good quality standard bulbs (either Osram Nightbreakers or some Phillips Crystal something, I sold one set I had spare and can’t remember which ones I used).

The light output difference was phenomenal. I could finally see at night. True, they weren’t as bright and as white/bluish as Xenon and LED options, but for my tastes they were one of the best upgrades I’ve ever done.
