Exclusive Helmholtz Exhaust Solutions for ALL Years of Miata!

Many years in the making and Good-Win Racing is now the only vendor making Helmholtlz exhaust solutions for ALL years of Miata!

Most exhausts are stuffed cans with resulting frequency balance far from ideal as the more musical notes are indiscriminately absorbed and a tiring monotone DRONE....is the final note. Exotic cars increasingly tailor the exhaust note with Helmholtz chambers that knock down specific frequencies to craft a pleasing note you want to hear while killing the drone frequencies you don't want in the result.

How is it done? Each generation of Miata is tested with a computer and sound spectrum analyzer and microphones and driven under varying conditions and loads with mufflers and without any muffler to measure the frequencies produced. We then use that data and special software to calculate the particulars of the Helmholtz chambers needed to precisely knock down the frequencies we do not want to hear while allowing the good throaty burble fun sounds to pass through. The result is all the fun, an exotic burble throaty result, without the drone that wears out the driver on longer drives. Result has a great dual personality because the effect of the Helmholtz is very frequency specific, under decel it is mild and quiet when ordinary stuffed mufflers can drone, yet when you push hard toward redline the helmholtz system rewards with exotic sounding fun. FUN when you want it, yet mild when just cruising.

You should consider the development of a universal adjustable "J" tube Helmhotz pipe for most vehicles.
You could offer the J-pipes in various diameters that would correlate to the exhaust diameter.
Then have a selection of various length capped pipes that could slide over the main "J"pipe to fine tune the sound frequency like a trombone slide. The owner could then play with the overall Helmholtz length to tune the frequency cancellation.

You owe me a future adjustable J-pipe

We tried quarter wave J pipes....got some of the old prototypes here that are adjustable too. That didn't work in this application well enough, frequency coverage just too narrow, needed three separate J pipes each set to different lengths to get coverage that was still incomplete. Big Helmholtz chamber designed to the multi-peak drone issues in the Miata works a lot better, far more 'area under the curve' drone reduction.
