    Dreamweaver | 2001 NB Project

    Hey everyone!

I have created a build thread for my car years ago on Clubroadster, but since then I have graduated from both high school and college, moved three times, and gotten a job. I also haven't done much other than taking it to the occasional time attack or HPDE event, so it was not a particularly interesting thread anyways. I have always wanted to style this car with Japanese aerodynamics and improve its performance in a balanced manner. It's a street car first, and a track toy second. Be sure to say hi if you see me driving around Houston!

The first big update with this thread is the most significant change I have ever made to the car: a custom paint job. I disassembled the car completely and left only the doors attached. Every seal, badge, bolt, fender, ect, was taken off and sanded by me. It took me 11 months to paint it before I decided to cave and bring it to a family friend's body shop in Conroe called Lakeside Collision, where he gave me a great deal considering I had done so much work. I completely intended to spray it myself. It honestly was a mix of me not having experience, me being busy with work, and never knowing if I had gotten it smooth enough. The process of painting a car was one of the most exhausting, labor-intensive things I have ever accomplished. Even putting the car back together (I brought it to the body shop in pieces) has taken me at least 10 hours so far, and I know my way around a Miata.

I had it painted in the brightest red color code I could find on a Japanese car with single stage PPG urethane paint. I got the car back on 4/28/18 and put it back together this last weekend. I hauled ass and finished most of it, but there are still some things I need to take care of first. These are just some preview images that I couldn't wait to share! I will be replacing all of the weather stripping, badges, and things like that very soon.

Seems like CR isn't very active anymore? Could be just me though. I've always liked the build threads on here the best .

It isn't just you but imo, forums in general are losing activity to all the 'instant gratification' social media outlets. Which is very unfortunate, imo, as the social media outlets lacks REAL CONTENT and a sense of community.

I finally joined Instagram a year or so ago just because people kept asking if I had an account to follow my build but I prefer the forums hands down. (And I'm only 34 yrs old)
