Is anyone using a miata for Chumpcar or Lemons?? Post them up
Best driving experience of my life. Here's ours during testing and race weekend back in the fall 2011.
Finished 10th during the Portland 12 hour enduro out of 90 some entries. Should have podium'd but lost out on about 30 mins in the pits due to an electrical problem. Battled our way back through 50 spots in the afternoon/evening. Can't recommend this more for anyone looking to get w2w experience. It's fantastic especially if you are on a competitive team.
Very nice! What's your AIV at? We are getting close to having ours done. Just waiting on some parts for a coolant reroute. Our goal is to win but I realize we have to finish first. First race for this car will hopefully be in May.I'll post up pics as soon as it's off jack stands.
I don't recall. I wasn't incharge of paperwork. I do know they were not fond of the hardtop or glass. We busted out the rear window and donated towards the charity to gain some of our penalty laps back. Started the race at a dead even 0 laps after donations.

Yeah it survived. The only race that the car didn't complete was a Spokane event. The hood mounted light is a e92 335i hid projector. It's awesome to have. Easily identifiable by the pit crew as well during night stints.Originally Posted by Unk577

I've competed in a total of about 10 LeMons and Chump races, mostly in a BMW 325. Never in a Miata.
It's the most fun you can have in a car with your clothes on! Highly recommended.
I'm so jealous!!! w2w is so fun, especially when you don't have to worry about breaking things.
That looks like so much fun, I would love to do one of those some time. I know some guys on my local forum are into it, maybe I'll get in contact with them about it.

You still do. Especially when you have 5+ paying drivers in order behind you who expect seat time and a crew/chief who would like to place decently for all the man hours and hidden costs that go into putting one of these cars together.
Exactly. I was running on a team with a 240z that wasn't real reliable which is why I decided to build a miata of my own for Chump. I have tons of spares ie: motors, trans, control arms, brakes, ect. ect. This helps keep my build costs down and means I can show up to the track with a trailer full of spares should anything break, hopefully we can get it fixed quickly so everyone still gets their seat time.
But like Loren said, it is an absolute blast. And not having a bunch of money tied up in it makes it more enjoyable.
