I finally got this wrapped up. Been busy packing up a house. I ended up getting 4 coats of the POR15 out of the small kit. I used the cleaner and etch from that kit as well.
Etching. Keep wet with etch solution for 30 minutes.

Rinsed and dried for another 24 hours.

Began applying the POR15. brushed on in thin coats.

Yes... I am aware of the gas tank "collar thing" I want to do that very soon when i can just remove it and clean the entire filler area.
    After two coats.

The final coat was given another 24 hours to cure. I then popped in all plugs and clips and took a note from KFJ. I applied some undercoating.

As with most things, there are places i could improve on. I addressed it, feel better, and can now be aware to monitor for the future.
    Thanks!
