It was a good video until the driving segment... and then it was a GREAT video. His pure joy driving the little car was totally obvious.

Whenever I’m in my Miata, I just have a goofy grin on my face. Heck, even my dog sitting next to me has the same grin. It is remarkable what Mazda achieved in this little car.

The owner of the car Alex had stopped by my house back in April of this year and I got to look over the car in person. The cars current suspension is worn out Tein Basic Coilovers which is why it was not a good ride on the suspension, if it was the OEM Billys it would have been much better, I also think the car had been repainted and that is why the front bumper was missing the OEM Eunos ornament. As far as giving it a rather low rating I dont think his reaction while driving matches his overall rating of the car, he looked like he was having a blast grinning ear to ear, that grin should have gave it a much better rating! He also states he likes how simple the interior is in the introduction, but then when he goes to rate the car gives it a low rating for not having more creature comforts, so which is it man? hahhahahah

The front clip has been painted on that car. It shows in the still frame above. I think it was a fair and good review. People lost their minds when the NA debuted, I remember people were thrilled to see a dead automotive segment come back to life. It was a bold move.

Doug's explantion/reasoning for the lack of a front nose badge makes me think he doesn't do all that much research for these videos. That or he rather make something up that sounds more quirky/oddball than the truth. Pointing out, or making up, such stuff is his schtick afterall.

It honestly has me wondering how many other times he's just guessed yet passed it off as how things are for certain cars in the past.

Because a 2 minute google image search on a phone would instantly show Eunos Roadsters came with a nose badge.

    Truth!

I've never heard of this knucklehead, and it was really painful listening to him slur his way through the whole thing. I agree with Phat, his shit-eating-grin was not congruent with his ratings, but then again, why do I care?

And, for the record, Doug, MY Miata IS a daily driver and it's the most fun you can have outside with your clothes on!

I loved Doug's writing when he was with Jalopnik but his video reviews leave A LOT to be desired. Not sure exactly how he got so popular.

Regardless, I think he captured some of what makes the Miata so special and more fun to drive then just about anything else I've been in on the street.
