Yesterday began the madness. Lots of musical cars, moving projects around to facilitate the swapages. Also, Beaker left us yesterday. On its way to Minneapolis.
Snoopy in the shop to give up it's Xida ACE, urethane bushed control arms, ELBJs, GLoc pads/rotors, Racing Beta exhaust and MS3 Ecu.
Taxi2 is pretty clean underneath, only required the air gun a couple times.
Vegas, the orange NB on the two post lift, is our other goal for MRLS.

Taxi is close. Engine, 6spd and 4.3 OsGiken are in.
Tonight we’ll try to finish the manifolds, oil cooler, radiator and fluids.
We shielded the trans tunnel all the way back the the hand brake pocket. This is slightly farther than we go in the racecars, in an effort to make this thing comfortable on long drives to the track.
1.8 sized Supermiata Sport clutch and flywheel used. We don't necesarilly need the extra torque capacity over the 1.6 units, but the 1.8 being slightly heavier/more mass, is less buzzy, and damps a bit more of the trans/diff's NVH.
Color matched, wrapped Hard Dog M2 Sport bar. For now, we've deleted the softtop. If we decide to throw a glass window top back in, the Sport is the way to go.
Supermiata Big Grip Kit, 900/500 Xida, RB front bar, SPM rear bar, SPM links, Urethane bushings, ELBJs
No pic, but the Stoptech 11" front brake kit was also re-purposed to Taxi, as the S1 racecars use 11.75" Wilwood setups.

Hmm. The gauge cluster seems to be missing.

Why not a BBFW roll bar? Either way very nice work!

If our goal was to build a streetable track car, we nailed it, again. Unfortunately, our goal was trackable street car. We went too GT3, and not enough GT.
Taxi has spent a few months on the back burner while we finished up Vegas and spent some time with our 2013 FRS project "Blub".
Now, Taxi is back in the shop for some corrective measures.
Out will come the 2.0l engine with the big race cams, as it was simply too unruly on the street and doesn't run as well as we want Taxi "The GT Car" to run. In will go a milder engine.
Out will come the urethane diff mounts and Race engine mounts, for OE rubber and Mazdacomp rubber, respectively.
Out will come the high spring rate Xida Race, for a softer sprung set of something more streetable.
We're also moving forward on camshaft development that stalled out a few years back.
One last thing... for Adam..

Very Very Nice!!! So you are saying anything stiffer than OEM Rubber for the rear Diff. is too stiff for street use?
Slampen (02-05-2019)
That color is so gorgeous. Especially with the orange stripe.
There's a lot to consider on the diff mounts, but I think a lot has to do with expectations. OTS (off the shelf) PU diff mounts do telegraph more NVH over stock, but it isn't that noticeable when they settle in IMO. I don't like race or hybrid mounts on a street car, it is just too much NVH, particularly around idle.

It is up to each owner to determine what is "too stiff".
As Dan mentioned, we virtually created the current HPDE track rat mold over a decade ago. Many cars later, we are trying something different. The goal of Taxi is max daily happiness, not max speed.
Since we don't plan to compete in the car, are not seeking maximum driver feedback and response, we elected to go mushy on the diff mounts.
Everyone sees a roll bar and the Supermiata / 949 logos and thinks "maximum attack!" I guess we earned that reputation. But no, this build is us experimenting to see how much NVH we can tune out of the car while keeping at least OEM levels of driver engagement (fun).
