Mazda just stops running
2004 Mazda has a full tank of gas, temp is fine, running good then starts bucking like it was running out of gas and stops running. I get out open the hood, everything looks good. I wait 5 minutes and it starts right up and runs for a day or two and does it again. Any ideas

6,000 rpm - mere mortals would shift
Most probably cam or crank angle sensor; these are common symptoms but nothing can be ruled out. Is there a way to borrow a known good unit and test?

6,000 rpm - mere mortals would shift
If it's acting up once it's warm, ^ is most likely the cam sensor. a quick test would be to wait until it fails, then spray the sensor with an upside-down can of compressed air. Get the sensor cooled down, then see if it starts.

3,000 rpm - starting to feel the power
F-85???
Maybe a long shot, but back in the day I had a '70 F-85 Oldsmobile which had a similar issue. Turned out to be a pinhole in the fuel line. The damn thing would run fine for awhile, but it would suck enough air into the fuel line to shut off the fuel. It took 2 mechanics a couple of days to find the problem. Oh yeah, it was a sweet ride for $400.00!

2,000 rpm - light wheelspin, no bog here!
I know this seems a bit out there, but I had a similar behavior. Is your battery and connections secure?

If I replace the sensor, making sure to put it back the way it came out ,do have to retime it ?

No. Both the Cam Sensor and the Crank Position Sensor are straight bolt on affairs. Sometimes crud can build up on the crank sensor because of it's location near the crank pulley. The distance it should be from the timing plate is the thickness of a credit card.
