Hello All,
Thought I would document my build. For me it's a Groundhog Day build because in 1996, I bought a lease return 93LE from my local Mazda dealership. I had no idea it was a rare car, I just liked the color combo and it was the first time i had drove a Miata. A 5 minute test drive turned into 10 years of ownership and 240,000 kms (150,000 miles). When I sold it, it had been through 2 turbo kits and countless mods. Here's a pic from 2005 at Miatas at the Gap

After the Miata, I had a string of fun weekend cars, E39 M5, S2000, MK6 GTI, and ultimately this

After a couple of years with my childhood dream, I was pretty bored. It was simply way too capable and unflappable to enjoy on the street. Worse was the long gearing, 2nd gear was good for more than 80 mph. so most times I could get 1 shift in before I had to shut it down. Ended up selling it for more than I paid for it so I began to look for another toy, but this time something fun. So it dawned on me that the most fund I ever had with a car was a Miata.
I went to the dealership, test drove a NC and ND, both were OK, but wasn't as good as what I remembered my old 93LE. What to do... Finding a good low mile rust free NA is hard here in Canada, but by chance I stumbled onto a Kijiji ad one night for a 93LE with 41,000 kms (24k miles). Drove 3 hours to see it the next day, I couldn't believe it, the mileage checked out. Original paint, no rust, no accidents. Best of all, it was kept indoors under a cover. So all the rubber trim was soft, supple and black as new. I quickly made a deal for a great price and drove her home the next week.
So here's Groundhog, my 2nd 93LE. This time it's a keeper. I took it to Radwood Philly, sorry for the bad pics, the weather was overcast.
