    1997 Miata Track/Daily

Welp I never thought i'd have this car long enough to start a build thread but it deserves it. Little story time, I found my 97 not even a football field away from my house and I had no idea it was there. The car belonged to an elderly Japanese couple and he was a is a huge fan of Mazda's the husband told me "I wanted the most base model possible with the least amount of driver support so I knew it was me driving and not the car." (too this day the most Japanese car guy statement I've ever heard.) He drove it everyday too and from work from 1997 till 2011 at that time he sadly had to get knee surgery and couldn't drive it so he gave it to his wife who worked at a school 0.7 miles from there house. So between 2011 too Early-2017 (when i bought it) they only put 11K miles on the car and it has 92k now.

Here is the car when I got it. Was bone stock and I couldn't have been happier with such a clean platform.

After some time with it I got creative. At the time of buying the 97 I had a 2001 NB that was the track slut and had the stickiest and loudest tires ever R888s. It was on Miro 15x8 wheels and 205 R888s I had to put them on the NA because the stock tires were so so dry. Also in the Pic you'll notice my tow hook it is a HKS Kansai cross bar that replaces both rear baby teeth with a support bar.

Next were the KG Work TSIs and I found a set of MazdaSpeed Shocks and Springs, for being 20 something years old they're still super stiff.

Couple months later i picked up a really pretty Montego Blue hardtop down in Homestead ,Florida and a couple days before fitted my Fujitsubo Legalis R.
    148FD51F-8227-46B8-8D11-F14B69222A6F.jpg

Later that Month M.Lambert sold me the best Miata wheels ever! SSR x Watanabes 14x6 +25. I slapped some 195, 60, 14 Falken Azenis. Too me they look so so good.
    65A8B173-5193-4BB7-A8B5-EE43EAD3A8D7.jpg

After those wheels that is when my rare parts obsession became an addiction. I pretty much sourced every ARC part for the miatas engine bay (Minus the radiator and oil cap).

And here we are now a clean canvas ready for many mods. I want to do a very proper 90s themed interior with useless gauges and stickers but keep the exterior very subtle yet track ready. S2 Racing bumper or Aglimited front lip would be the 2 pathways i'd want to go. I already have goodies on the way for this car so get ready this will be a fun one.

Nice thread, Thanks! I told you before I like you car as I have one much like is and have the KG Works vents to go in and the fog lamps to go on. I also have the Dreaded Florida Faded Bumpers. I plan on getting a short bumper for the rear and having a custom fiberglass factory spec bumper made for the front, if it's not too expensive to make as I want to shoot the whole car in Dupont Imron as it's hard as nails and you can buff it every year without burning the paint and the whole car will fade the same, not the bumpers look one color and the body looks another. My car came from Fort Myers and is now in Pa. GOD BLESS

Red cars in Florida are simply going to fade sitting outside. At least they’re not rusted.

That’s awesome!! I would really like to get an aftermarket bumper but I’m not 100% sure which one.

Welp, This build thread was short lived. On the Night of me creating this thread I was in a rear end collision. I was turning right into my friends gated community entrance at about 10-15 MPH and a guy in the left lane decided he didn't want to be in that lane anymore and I can only assume he was texting because my trunk was not hit and why the hell would someone just drift over like that on a wide open road.

    ED1C1B69-F912-40D6-AC13-576842D902FE.jpg

The damage does look pretty bad and it is because insurance deemed it totaled. But I was able to drive it home 32 miles the way you see it and no rubbing at all and it drove straight which amazed me. I am just happy I am ok and that my wheels and hardtop are unscathed. the other car was a 2014 Buick Verano and his only damage was him loosing his emblem.

But this accident I wasn't as mad as I thought I would be because I really wanted to start fresh with another miata specifically a BRG. Thankfully Randy (PhatMiata) was able to find the BRG I now own near him in Tampa. I drove up picked up the car, went to Randy's and geeked out about his miata and drove it all the way back to Miami.

This car was a great car and daily driver but I am just thankful I am alive and thankful I can keep building miatas for years to come.

Well here is why I am not mad. If I had not got hit I would still have my 97 and would have gone with my build. But I did get hit however I was able to find a showroom quality BRG for a steal and it is the car I was originally looking for before my Eunos. So I cant be mad because I am alive and I got an overall better car.

Dam thats awesome. My plan with this is Cafe Racer style. Super Retro but very quality parts. And all your Eunos accessories would look quite nice.
