97 Door bolsters, what are your thoughts.

Well when a set of Carbonmiata door latches and then a set of tear drop speaker covers fall in your lap, one starts to think about redoing their door panels. I have the ubiquitous 1990 panels. I like the shape of the 97 bolsters and the notion of a bit more shoulder padding. What are your thoughts?

If you want the '97 look do it. It is your ride so make it as you want it to be.
I think revlimiter may have done similar, check his website and or build thread.

I found the 97 door bolsters intrusive and made the cabin feel smaller. I think it depends on your size.

I’m a bigger guy length wise and don’t mind a snug cockpit. Did you find the bolsters to add any support or comfort? I know there main purpose was to comply with newer side collision standards.

You’re part of the reason I’ve gotten to this point. Got any extra leather door panels?

I didn’t like them and it felt uncomfortable, like my arm was being forced to my torso.

hhahhaa actually yes I do have a pair of 97 door panels I was going to have recovered, but turns out Nakamae was able to source everything for me anyhow, so wont be needing them anymore

Sharka was originally a 97, so I kept the 97 door tops when I changed the chassis to a 95.

I love the shape. They complement the speaker shape very nicely.

Adam, I decided to go the route you did. I like the way the curves compliment as well. Sadly, the quilted leather will not be in my upgrade. I am getting the “forever” door panel with the basket weave vinyl so I guess I’m committed.
