Seeing is believing.
Seeing is believing.
8inch JL W3 with some no name amp. sounds ok, needs a bit bigger box.
front speaker amp hidden behind passenger seat
i need to relocate my front speakers amp to that spot to gain my trunk back
What are the specs on that little Polk amp behind the pass seat?
I'm doing that build that Hakuna posted years ago on m.net, but last time I checked the pages were gone.
So far I have the rear parcel deck cut to fit the speakers and the roll bar. Fitting the 8's with the rollbar has been a huge bitch and requires manipulation of the body (read: bangin' with a BFH) around the fuel tank and a bit of trimming on the speaker bezel. I plan on finishing up this weekend and will post pics.
I'm not an audiophile by any means but I WOULD like to be able to actually hear my music.
Current setup:
Kenwood Excelon KDC-X494 receiver:

Already installed.
Clearwater headrest speakers.
Kicker DS6-2 6 1/2" component speakers:

The 6 1/2's are already installed in the doors. I still need to install the tweeters in the upper door panels and wire in the crossovers.
Kicker 10C84 Comp 8" subwoofers:

Currently going into the parcel deck.
Kenwood 200W amplifier:
no link available, will edit with model later
An older amp I had lying around, will be used to power the subs.

That's quite an undertaking, especially with a roll bar to work around. I've thought about it but decided there were better (or easier) ways. I've wondered that if one put a fuel cell in the trunk and removed the stock tank, that would open up that whole area for amps and subs but then the soft top would still lay in top.

@YellowYata: There should be plenty of space to work with even with the soft top down if the fuel tank is no longer located there. You'd have to cut out part of the tank surround and weld in more sheet metal, or something. An 8" sub will fit relatively easily on the passenger side but the driver's side has interference with the corner of the tank surround, even with a low-profile 8.
Seems like a lot of effort to go through for sound, though, unless you already plan to implement a fuel cell.
I thought I've seen Miata boxes on eBay. Seems like an easy way to go to throw a 10" in there easy one afternoon.
That's a nice Polk amp. For some reason, I thought it was 4 channel.
I've got a 12 inch in a custom box
Dayum. What part of the car doesn't rattle?
sorry double post

75W RMS is pretty good and being a Polk amp, the birthsheet probably rated it at 90W.
