Hypercar manufacturer buys back his MX-5...

    From Road & Track:

Remember what Gordon Murray said about the Lotus Elan in connection with the McLaren F1's development? Well, Koenigsegg knows what he was on about:

This is a thing about Koenigsegg cars as well. People recognize them mostly for their power, but in many ways, that’s not our main priority. I mean, we prioritize much more that they supposed to be fun and exciting to drive. But that all is overshadowed by the crazy power we also make…yet I think the MX-5 is a good example on how you can have fun with a car with almost no power. And it’s an important lesson to always have in the back of your head when you develop super powerful cars.

Bald guys are wise (or at least my father says so)

Jokes aside, I agree. MX5/Miatas are neither particularly fast nor excellent examples of engineering, but are the best example of "accomplishing more with less". For me they are the essence of a sports car.

Imagine if they re-engineered the whole car in carbon fiber and aluminum pieces?

You'd end up with a turbocharged aluminum-block making 400+hp from 1.-something liters and weighing sub 1500lbs. It would be ahhhhh-maaaaaa-zing.
