NB: Turn signal relay replacement when adding LED bulbs

Does anyone have a p/n or source for a direct swap for the turn signal relay? Adding LEDs to the front turn signals, will cause the hyper flash issue unless one adds an inline resistor, or replaces the relay. Did a little searching, but could not find anything relevant.

I forgot where I got mine but I'm sure it's easy to find online using the right keywords.

BTW in order for these LED flashers to work properly....all the signal lights need to be converted to LED's.(front headlight, tail lights, side markers).

Leaving halogen bulbs will prevent the hazard lights to work.

The part you need is Ford/Mazda relay FH-0436 3211-215-320. It is a direct replacement for the NB2 that will solve hyperflash. It's completely plug and play. You can change out some or all of your signal bulbs and everything, including hazards, will function just fine. (I replaced my front bulbs months before I rebuilt my tail lights and the hazards worked.)

Available here for $15 plus shipping: http://www.superlumination.com/equalizers.htm It's the one listed as "Ford: MPV, Tierra" (Second group down, second one from the right.)

Note: If you change all of your brake lights to LEDs, you'll need to install a resistor on 1 light or your cruise control will not work.

I'm going the same route with Misfire as I did with Warbird, Tapturn flasher unit:
    http://www.autowindow.com/choose-module

I got the $99 unit which includes these features:
    -LED compatibility
    -3 - 6 blink Tap Signaling
    -Arrival & Departure Lighting
    -Directional Parking Lights
    -User Programmable settings
    -4 Hazard Patterns
    -4 Selectable Strobe Modes
    -Strobed Signaling option
    -4 more Strobing Hazard patterns
    -Strobed Remote Lock confirm

The Tapturn feature alone makes it worth it to me.

Thanks, all. The Tap-turn is the route I'd go if the car were staying in the stable. Already had the LEDS in the shop, which was why I installed them. A front t/s was out. That direct replacement relay looks like what I was hoping to find

    Hey, I am a dummy.
I ordered the relay but just noticed this thread is about the NB.
Will this fit a 1992 NA ? Adapt it? Other?

It won't work with an NA. Sorry.

NB: Turn signal relay replacement when adding LED bulbs

The NA requires a resistor to be swapped in the factory relay. Very easy to do with a soldering iron. I know I did a write up on here a while back. I did a few for other people because the resistors came in a pack of 5, IIRC. Takes maybe 30-45 minutes start to finish.

KFJ, you’re like the Steven Hawking of Miata knowledge except less attractive. I’m sure if Mazda Corp ever tried to keep your brain alive in perpetuity, you’d probably be the one talking them through the process.

I will say that I bought the relay FH-0436 3211-215-320 That Warhammer shared, and it worked as intended. The hardest part was removing the old relay from the aluminum cluster mount, with the seat installed.
