    The Italian Job

    Hi there
i'm Gianni from Italy, someone here on the forum knows me
    in 2006 i bought my mx5, a '91 v-spec brg in good condiction
in Italy were imported 150 units with p/s, p/w, hardtop, lsd and momo stering wheel in leather, the italian version did not have a/c, the wooden nardi wheel and gearknob and are not numbered

    a few pics

My first intention was to create something classic
    the first mods are
    robbins 3 top windows
motolita mark 3, les leston knob and wooden hand brake
zoom sidelight, rear fog and fuel cap
    oem tonneau cover
    mcintosh stereo and amplificator
and a set of oem wire wheels bought in UK

then plans have changed, thanks to the MX5nutz and cr.net i know the world of jdm culture and ...

a lucky find on ebayusa, a set of aerodramatics door opener (in metal)

then i find a set of v_spec2 panel on ebayuk, not in perfect condition, but i have retrimmed, I had two spare seats in tan, and have used the rear piece in vinil for repair the panel :trigger:
and finaly i used a set of Rikamae vintage leather straps

then I decided to change style, something more late'60 early '70 gt cars, for my interior
i started with instrument and between kg-works,AWD and RS-products options, i decided this combination
AWD panel, i have painted in satin gloss black because the written under the lights are totaly different from the italian scheme
RS-Products smiths type with short dial, veri similar to the old smiths and veglia-borletti instruments
and finaly a set of RS-Refine "binoculars" homemade in limited production by an japanese guy

i decided to change the wheel with a motolita mk4 in leather, the gearknob with KG-Works with snall mazda vintage logo on the top and Zoom hand brake

after 4 years of research, i have received this (thanks to James )

i picked up 3 smiths gauges: clock, vacuum, voltmeter and a black LHD crashpad

i think putting them in the TAN crashpad, but I tried to hole the black and distance the gauges of half cm.

I disassembled the crash pad and cut the dashboard

a test to see if the measure is right

In the afternoon I went to see the 'electrician for the connections

I finally decided to fit into the crash pad in tan :

while work on the engine will start this spring,I dedicated myself to a project inspired from smac's thread
    http://www.mx5nutz.com/forum/index.p...c=57248&st=100.

one of my favorite jdm bit are the Zoom/RS console, but with this exchange rate the coste are prohibitive, about 600€ with ship and tax, a little too much for a piece of fiberglass with a panel of aluminum glued, and a pillow covered with leather

practice is inspired by the interiors of the GT Golden Age, like a cross between Miura and Elan

The first step is to build the frame

to understand the size, I overlap the oem

some adjustment because the part that is screwed to the console radio is wider than the rear

Then I applied the supports for the panels that I'm going to stick

and finally the frame is complete wit armrest, next step glue the panels :trigger:

Ah as a coating, I want to use the leather of this vintage jacket or the tartan of my Belstaff on the rear

then I went to the carpenter to take the shaped panels

Then I added a piece to cover the hanbrake like the original Zoom

I went to the body-shop, to refine the support of the armrest

this afternoon i started to recover the console with the leather
