'1998' RS Outlaw - My photo collection

This car is inspired by classic 356 Outlaws, R-gruppe 911s and other bastardized 'Gruppe B' Porsches that I can't afford to build since that is a very steep slope.

My car is built with choice used parts, used factory bits and whatever else catches my eye. I wanted to avoid the trends, fads and buying JDM for the sake of JDM.

The goal is to make it unique.

Here's my car 4 years into ownership, circa 2005. What can I say? I didn't take many photos back then...

I also don't have any photos of my old 17 inch Enkeis or the other two crashes this car has been through which broke both rear suspensions and cracked my rims. (argument with the ex, heavy foot and rain don't mix too well...Should have learned the first time). I also sustained a nice head wound from the soft top frame the first time.

The car went back to stock after those accidents...

Here's the time when I got rear ended by an F150.

In 2008/9, I pulled out my old Brainstorm Altezzas and painted them.

The only photo I have with the soft top up.

The BRG hardtop I bought for $550.

    Soft top delete

R package steering rack and Illuminas.

Suspension bits not installed yet, but I did buy my 3rd hardtop. This time it was matching paint!

Picked up 99 NB wheels since they were cheap and reminded me of the Porsche Cup IIs.

    Raydots.

We go faster down the slippery slope from here...

After being away for 7 months in Mexico, PNW and Alaska in 2010. I came back to modding with renewed enthusiasm.

'96 1.8 engine with 80k miles went in for my 10th year anniversary of ownership.

I actually bought this RB1 in 2009, but never installed it until 2011. It was just sitting in my garage feeling lonely. I bought an NB2 bumper to make a hybrid, but decided to install this one first.

My 914/6 GT seats and the Prototipos. I LOVE this combination.

After about 6 months of having 2 extra bumpers sitting in the garage, I decided to move my ass and get the hybrid bumper started.

Picked up an extra set of STO wheels...

Dang, I love those seats! Didn't Hammerhead owned those wheels?

Like the bumper, but why is the painting not showing smooth?

Man those St. Pete and Ybor shoots looks NICE!!!

    Thanks for the comps!

Driver, I got the wheels from Discount Tire. It's one of a couple items I bought new. And in regards to the paint, that's because it's rattle canned. I've painted underneath the doors and the headlight lid, but I'm having a tough time with the bumper...

I'm waiting on one more more exterior modification and then I'll get the entire car repainted. It's a temporary solution and I can deal with orange peel better than the unpainted bumper or the primer look.

Love this build, seems practical and well planned Oddly enough, I met a lady once with a red NB that she claimed was a '98. She even had the papers and everything saying it was.

Thank you! As far as a time frame, as of right now, hopefully in about 6 months or so...

I was just looking for a set for Shenanigan and to my surprise, I found 3 sets for sale and all were about a grand more expensive than what I paid for mine...

    You and me both!

Some maintenance things I've done recently:

    - Remove and replace the rusty aluminum fuel covers and deck piece
    - Replace my rear tire (nail)
    - Replace my ignition coil (arc burns due to age)
    - Replace my plug wires (#2 burned out)
    - Replace alternator (going bad)
    - Oil change (a bit overdue)

And since this page needs photos, I re-edited the last batch (Cinemascope, sepia, b&w and a warmer tone). I'm also trying out Facebook's high res uploads...I think it looks much better.

Have you thought of getting a rear lip or something? I never noticed how much higher the back bumper is compared to the rest of the car. I think it's the fact that your belt line is paint matched and the NB/NA front bumper sits lower in comparison, it just popped out at me in that last pic.
