Correct me if I’m wrong but won’t retarding the timing actually help with cooling rather than advancing

And no I didn’t disconnect the heater core kept everything in place

Oil cooler was bound to happen really.

I have a hunch that it might be the older first version koyo who knows

Come to think of it I do have the timing retard box, my base timing from what I remember is at 8 degrees and the box retards up to 6 degrees on full boost which is about 6.5 psi on my setup

Maybe it’s retarding to much ugh I wish i played with it on track aswell tuning my fuel regulator

This is sort of a trifecta of cooling punishment: AC condensor + oil cooler + F/I. A crossflow will help, but you're still going to have to mind the temps if you track it.

Street temps and driving in traffic are perfect, when it comes to tracking that’s when the problem starts to surface

You need a more efficient cooling capacity with all that stuff in the way. I’m sort of surprised you aren’t running a more sophisticated ECU, but with the way your car looks and living in CA, I understand. I would consider a PnP ECU like a Megasquirt just for the datalogging, spark, and fuel tuning. Swap it back to stock for smog.

Before resorting to standalone I’d like to take care of the overheating issues first

I do have an efan I can try but I’ve read stock fans are more than enough or so Ive read

Understandable. At least with the stand alone, you can truly see what your oil and coolant temps are, among other things.

My car sat majority of its time out at Buttonwillow, not by choice, but from being busy manning the event. Let alone the car getting to hot for comfort on track I told myself I’d rather have a car to driver home.

Here are some sweet photos of the car!

Updated pic of the current engine bay, yes I know very cluttered and full of things others wouldn’t keep themselves

During the event I had a chance to drive my dads car a couple of times. Helped him tune his suspension to where it’s somewhat manageable to handle aha

    Gotta love leaf springs right?

Took my dad for a spin in his own car!

It’s great to see him come back on track! His racing days took a hault obviously for work and taking care of us when we were young. Very glad I’m able to help him out to relight that fire he once had with his RX3
