    The Unimportance of Speed

A friend emailed me this today, thought it was a pretty good read.

    http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/201...d/#more-445481

It's so true that a lot of people have become all about how quick their 0-60 time is and outright speed rather than how much fun you're having in the car. I really liked this last bit, exactly how I feel when people question me about why I would get a Miata; some people just don't get it!

But it’s not a car that’s about bragging rights, not a car for peacock strutting or posturing. It is, in short, not a car you drive for other people. It’s a car you drive for yourself. And that’s what makes for a truly great machine, no matter what the numbers might say.

The unimportance of Speed is very real in the miata. Took my buddy through a twisty road just north of Oslo and he was giggelig —*«how fast was that?». «60» «What?». Though, the unimportance of braking is also very strong in the Miata

    Exactly

I took one of the kids up here for a ride. He never realized how quick and fun a Miata can be. He owns a 700+ hp Evo that's runs 9.60 at 144mph. Guess who's looking for a second car

haha this is awesome. my roommate was explaining to the other house mates, saying the miata was so awesome to drive because youre going the same speed as everyone else but it feels like youre going into hyperspace. so true, except im never actually going the same speed as everyone else. but he was so right! speed really has no effect on how awesome the car is to drive. i have a blast just pulling into the drive way

I'm sorry to say, but a turbo really does make it even more fun.
